Keith Powell waited until the next to last race of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series season to join his CPR Motorsports teammates as feature winners, but when he did so Tuesday night, he made it worth the wait. Powell was victorious in the 11th Annual “The Whistler” Pete Trenca Memorial and in so doing kept the 11 year streak of never having a repeat winner of this prestigious race alive.
Powell, driving the Icings on Top, Mayfield yellow roadster, led from the drop of the green, and was only slightly challenged by current Gold Crest Division Non-Wing Championship points leader Rob Warren and became the ninth different winner in ten SUPRS races to date.
Warren, who is looking for his first SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship came home second in the caution free race while Ray Sand, Jr. kept his hops of a fourth SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship alive by placing third.
Heat race wins went to Chris Meyers and Warren.
The Geneva, OH racer is now joins Ray Sand, Jr as a guaranteed starter for the 11th Annual Topless! 200 which is SUPRS inaugural rFactor season finale next week.
