August 14, 2018 – <\/strong><\/em>Oswego, NY…<\/strong><\/em>Bob Gangwer and Steve Callahan shocked the fans and fellow racers when they time trialed faster than the existing track record to sweep the front row of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS),  14th<\/sup> Annual Topless! 200 at Oswego Speedway<\/a> on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Gangwer as Surprised as Anyone<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gangwer. whom had set on the outside of the front row last year for the Topless! 200, was nearly speechless after his run. “This is pretty unbelievable, I’m not sure what to say, other than wow, I can’t believe I’m on the pole for Topless!”<\/p>\n

“This is like a win for me. I really struggle in this race and to put it on the pole is really something very special to me,” said the Goshen, IN native. “I have to thank Keith Powell. He really helped me put the car back into the ballpark a couple of races back. Also, thanks to Rob Warren, he’s helped me a lot with equipment, and as much as I hate to admit it, having a good sim rig has made a huge difference on race night.”<\/p>\n

Slow First Lap Leads to Revelation<\/strong><\/p>\n

After a slow first lap, Gangwer turned up the wick on his RW Woodworking, WAGS Speed Shop #25 and lowered the rFactor non-wing supermodified track record to 16.099 for a one lap average speed of 162.489 mph.<\/p>\n

“I had a really bad first lap, (16.623 seconds), and I couldn’t figure out why turn one was so slick, and I just slid up the track. But then I remembered it was later in the day so I adjusted my brake bias and my entry and it helped,” explained Gangwer.<\/p>\n
