Carl Becker Makes it Back to Victory Lane, Keith Powell Makes Power Move on First Night of SUPRS North Carolina Swing
\n<\/em><\/h2>\n

October 23,<\/strong><\/em> 2018 – <\/strong>Caraway, NC <\/strong><\/em>…<\/strong>Carl Becker and Keith Powell passed the same driver on their way to collecting the wins on the first night of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 15th<\/sup> Annual North Carolina Swing Tuesday at Dasera Speedway and Caraway Speedway.<\/p>\n

Becker Back<\/strong><\/p>\n

You have to go back to November 18, 2014 to find the last time that Carl “Bonzai” Becker sat in the SUPRS Winner’s Circle. There you’ll find his name as the winner of the 11th<\/sup> Annual Turkey Shoot at Tri-Park Speedway. It was also 2014 when he last won a race in North Carolina and it was at the same track, Dasera Speedway.<\/p>\n

Opportunity Knocks<\/strong><\/p>\n

When you wait that long to get a win, you don’t wait to take advantage of someone elses misfortune. Becker was ready to seize the opportunity offered to him when, after leading the first 22 laps of the race, Rob Warren got in a tangle with a lapped car.<\/p>\n

Becker, who had started right next to Warren in row two, and had stayed with Warren lockstep, easily took the lead and held on through his own battles in lapped traffic to take the win in his Dowker Titanium Roadster. Steve Callahan was nearly three seconds back in second and crossed the line with Bob Gangwer right on his rear nerf bar in third.<\/p>\n

Powell Keeps Warren Winless<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the second race of the night, Keith Powell used a three-wide power move on lap 32 to block Rob Warren behind a lapped car and make a pass for the lead and eventual win. Warren did all he could, short of wrecking Powell, to keep the Carrollton, OH driver behind him and the two rubbed wheels nearly the length of the straight away before the frustrated Warren finally relinquishing his lead.<\/p>\n

It was Powell’s second win of the season and a bitter disappointment for Warren who finished second and remains without a feature win so far this season. Bob Gangwer battled Steve Callahan throughout the race and came out on top in third place.<\/p>\n

Keysor Makes SUPRS Debut<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rookie SUPRS driver, Brad Keysor of Liverpool, NY made his SUPRS d\u00e9but and fared relatively well. He qualified sixth at Dasera Speedway where he finished seventh just one lap down. At Caraway he was eighth quick in Time Trials and crossed the finish line one car better in sixth on the lead lap.<\/p>\n

Two More Qualifying Races Left
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The SUPRS stars move on to Southern National Motorsports Park  and Concord Motorsports Park for the third and fourth legs of the challenging North Carolina Swing. These are the last two qualifying races of the swing and drivers will push their rFactor supermodifieds hard to make sure they stay in the top eight in North Carolina Swing points.<\/p>\n

Practice for both races begins at 8pm with racing slated to go at 9:o5.<\/p>\n

Don’t Forget the Hustle<\/strong><\/p>\n

The swing finishes off  at Hickory Motor Speedway on Thursday, October 25th<\/sup> where the winner of challenging “Hickory Hustle 75” will be crowned North Carolina Swing Champion and gain 15 bonus points in the SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Championship.<\/p>\n
