It was the third straight win for Warren at this race and his fifth overall on the season. (Victory Lane art by <a href=\"http:\/\/breezegraphics.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"BreezeGraphics.com (opens in a new tab)\">BreezeGraphics.com<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Powell Stays Alive<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Keith Powell, who is sitting in second place in the SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Championship XV, may have lost the battle, finishing second to Warren in the <g class=\"gr_ gr_671 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling\" id=\"671\" data-gr-id=\"671\">fe<\/g>ature, but he is still very much alive in the season-long war for the SUPRS crown thanks to being on the winning Snowball Derby Team Challenge team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Powell was joined in victory lane by Nelson Rodrigues, the second member of the winning Challenge team, to receive the Snowball Derby Championship Crown. After adding up both driver&#8217;s heat race and feature points, the pair finished the night with 148 points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their tally easily beat the second place team of Warren\/Dave Brigandi and netted both drivers an extra 15 bonus points in the season championship standings, helping Powell to shave another two points off of Warren&#8217;s lead and put him within 11 markers going into the two-day Terry Gibson Memorial show next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was Powell&#8217;s second Snowball Derby Team Challenge Championship, his first coming last year when he shared the championship with his CPR Motorsports teammate, Steve Callahan. The two hard-charging racers swapped third place on a couple occasions and ran nose to tail throughout the feature. Keysor ultimately came out on top, being able to pull away from Rodrigues in the later stages of the race as Rodrigues struggled with a used up supermodified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Buddy is Back<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Buddy Sea, a driver who&#8217;s participation in SUPRS races as well as organizational operations goes back to 2006, returned to the cockpit for the first time since the 2016 season. Driving the Danzer Racing #52, Sea qualified in seventh place, finished third in his heat race and made the Canadian Pursuit. He was unable to start the feature due to internet connection issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Event Details<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video alignleft\"><video height=\"648\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1152 \/ 648;\" width=\"1152\" controls src=\"https:\/\/suprs.net\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/SUPRS_2019-Crazy-Canuck-Snowball-Derby-Canadian-Pursuit-Bob-Gangwer-crash.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption>Bob Gangwer didn&#8217;t have a good time in the Canadian Pursuit at Mosport.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in the night, Rob Warren was the only driver to dip into the 16.5-second range when he set fast time with a 16.544. Heat wins went to Warren and Nelson Rodrigues. Keith Powell was the winner of a wild Canadian Pursuit where all but the top two finishers made it to the checkered flag after six laps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Terry Gibson Memorial Next<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>SUPRS travels to Sandusky Speedway for the two-day 11<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Terry Gibson Memorial next week. The Terry Gibson Fast 50 will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, and practice gets underway at 8:00 pm with racing set for 8:45 pm. Then the next night the 11<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Terry Gibson Memorial 100 will take place with practice at 8:00 pm, and driver&#8217;s meeting at 8:15 pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cars take to the track for time trials at 8:30 pm with racing is slated <g class=\"gr_ gr_4 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep\" id=\"4\" data-gr-id=\"4\">to<\/g> begin with heats at 8:40 pm.
