Tire Conservation Key to Jeff Russell Special Win for Dave Ohh<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

March 5, 2019 \u2013 Las Vegas, NV\u2026<\/strong><\/em>Dave Ohh of Union, CT conserved his tires and came home the winner of the 85 lap, Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Jeff Russell Special March 5 at The Bullring. Ohh took the lead on lap seven and was able to hold on after several late race restarts. Bob Gangwer finished in second place a little over one second behind with Rob Warren claiming third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tire Management Key to Win<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Once Ohh got the lead from Gangwer, he quickly put some track between the two, but the Union, CT racers knew he had to take care of his tires. “It was a race of endurance,” Ohh explained. “I wasn’t expected to get by Bob in the beginning because he seemed to check out quite a bit, but after that it was just about managing tires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh wondered if he wasn’t the only one that was thinking about saving tires for the end of the 85 lap feature. With a deluge of cautions toward the end of the race, he wondered if Gangwer had done the same. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I got pretty worried there with all those late race restarts thinking Bob had saved a little bit more than me,” said the TMS Wolfpack sponsored driver. “But it turned out I had just enough to run some fast laps at the end. For me the restarts were fine once the tires cooled down. They were still pretty good and I could get on it and go then back off a little bit. Really it was all about managing tires.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
