June 17, 2019 \u2013 Goshen, IN<\/strong><\/em>\u2026The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 14th<\/sup> Annual Jim Shampine Memorial on June 18, 2019 at Oswego Speedway pays homage to the man and the legend that helped shape supermodified racing as we know it today.<\/p>\n

The Father of Modern Supermodified Design<\/h4>\n

Jim Shampine was a seven-time Oswego Speedway Champion that not only won more feature events at Oswego Speedway, (87), than any other driver, but also has three Oswego Speedway International Classic 200 wins to his name, is a two-time winner of the Star Speedway International Classic 200, helped found and was the 1977 International Supermodified Association champion and is known as the father of the modern radical off-set supermodified. Prior to his death in the 1982 Modified 200 at Oswego Speedway, Shampine\u2019s legacy was already well established and continues on to this day as one the one most talked about in all supermodified circles across the country.<\/p>\n

Warren Going for Fourth<\/h4>\n

Defending SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion, Rob Warren, has been unstoppable in the Shampine Memorial since 2016, and going for an precedented fourth straight in the prestigious race.<\/p>\n

Since his first win in 2016 Warren has led 154 of the 240 Shampine Memorial laps run. He has finished no lower than fifth since 2013.<\/p>\n

After a bad season open at the Port City Kick-Off, the Pulaski, NY sim racer found is groove last week and, after leading the first laps of the feature, came home with a second place finish.<\/p>\n

Race Details<\/h4>\n

Official practice for the SUPRS 14thAnnual Jim Shampine Memorial begins at 8:00pm. The drivers meeting is at 8:15pm. Time Trials lock in the Elite 8 qualifiers at 8:30pm and racing is set to start at 9:05pm with the first of two 10 lap heat races, (if needed) prior to the 80 lap feature.<\/p>\n
