Slightly Refined Schedule Has 43 Race Dates for Wing Supermodified Sim Racing<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Goshen, IN \u2013 September 26, 2019\u2026 <\/strong><\/em>The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), has officially released its 2019-20 Gold Crest Wing Supermodified  Schedule, and although slightly refined from last year, the season still has a seven month schedule of 43 race dates in 17 different states and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five new venues have been added to the schedule, and a SUPRS will visit Wisconsin for the first time in their 16 year history. With the addition of the new tracks, several, including Rocky Mountain Raceways, and the long-standing Caraway Speedway have been dropped from the schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest change to recent season schedules is the moving of the popular West Coast Swing to the end of the season so to better tie in with the running of the 16th Annual Summit Classic 125 as the final race of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Season starts with Harvest of Speed October 1<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The season kicks off with a NASCAR Heat show on October 1 and the 16th<\/sup> Annual Harvest of Speed at LaPorte Speedway. Kicking off the season at LaPorte is a tradition that dates back to the very first SUPRS sanctioned show in October of 2004. At that time SUPRS used the \u201cPSTM\u201d modification for NASCAR Heat by Mike Jackson. Today, the sanction uses it\u2019s own mod but keeps the tradition of alive at LaPorte as a nod to their own rich history of NASCAR Heat format racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 16th Annual Harvest of Speed begins with Hot Laps at 8:00pm est. Time Trials take place at 8:45pm and Racing is slated to start at 9:05pm with two 10 lap Heat Races followed by the 75 lap feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Time Stops at Real Supermodified Venues<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

While Berlin Raceway<\/a> is one of the places that most supermodified fans would acknowledge gave birth to the real division, SUPRS has never raced there. This season changes that though as an older NASCAR Heat version of the track was recently found and is now on the schedule. The Wolverine 50 at Berlin, is the third race of the season and early indications are that this track, just like the real one in Marne, MI, is going to provide the racers with a fast, smooth run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stars and cars of SUPRS will stop at Orange County Speedway<\/a> for the first time when they roll into Rougemont, NC for race two of the 2019 North Carolina Swing the last week of October. This track hosted a couple of real supermodified races in the early part of the 21st century. Built by SpeedyMan11 from The Mod Squad<\/a>, the fast, high-banked 3\/8 mile track, has multiple grooves that should produce even better racing than Caraway did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first race of 2020, also sees SUPRS at a new venue and one that is a popular track for real supermodified racing; Delaware Speedway<\/a> in Ontario, CAN. After several years of running at Mosport Speedway, the Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby moves to Delaware for 2020. The 1\/2 mile track is different at each end of the somewhat egg-shaped oval, making for close, unpredictable racing. This track annually hosts the International Supermodified Association<\/a>, and is home to the Harv Lennox Memorial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet in Madison for St. Patrick’s Day<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This season’s edition of the popular “St. Patrick’s Day Grab O’ the Green” marks the first time SUPRS will race in Wisconsin, and the first time at the famed Madison International Speedway<\/a>. The half-mile, high-banked paved oval has a rich history of late model racing that dates back to the 1950s. Some of the greatest stock racing stars of the country turned many laps at Madison, including Dick Trickle, Joe Shear, Tom Reffner, Alan Kulwicki, and more recently Matt Kenseth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s a Quarter<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

SUPRS 16th Anniversary Special will feature a first-time visit to the fictional Quarter Speedway. This track is one of the earliest built by Doug “Flash” Forgue, and is a banked quarter-mile track. Ironically, as long as the track has been in the SUPRS arsenal, it never made it to the schedule until this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SUPRS stars will do battle in their NASCAR Heat supermodifieds using the “NHSM” modification on November fifth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Date Changes for Parish Memorial, Vukovich III Classic<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Two of the changes long-time fans will quickly notice is the moving of the the Dion Parish Memorial 62 from December to a slot that it occupied before, and the Billy Vukovich III Classic to nearly the end of the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 16th running of the race that honors the late Dion Parish, and is considered SUPRS most prestigious supermodified sim race, now takes place the second week into the season on October 8, 2019, while the Billy Vukovich III Classic at Mesa Marin moves from it’s long-standing slot in January to April 14. The move for both races helps align and refine the West Coast Swing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Memorials Stay Put<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Terry Gibson Memorial continues in January on the 14th and 15th, and the Randy Witkum Memorial stays in March as the last race of the Keystone Nationals on the fifth. Both are NASCAR Heat dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the memorial races carry a guaranteed starter bonus for the winner that can be used at the season ending 16th<\/sup> Annual Summit Classic 125 at Madera Speedway in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Triple Crown and Dash Bonus Extra Incentives <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Two of the three SUPRS Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top races take place during the wing supermodified sim racing season. The first is the 11th<\/sup> Annual SUPRS All-Star Classic, now held on February 11, 2020. This 200 lap spectacular is modeled after the Star Speedway International Classic that has been going on for 54 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second leg of the SUPRS Triple Crown presented by Icings on Top is The 16th Annual Summit Classic 125 and the final race of the year on April 29, 2020. This year, Summit Classic Week includes the Ground Pounder 75 featuring the ARL Super Heat Modified Tour. This race is sure to get the heart pumping, as some of the best sim racers from HeatFinder.net<\/a> go head to head with the SUPRS regulars at Madera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A driver that can win those two races and the third and final race of the SUPRS Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top, (the Topless! 200), receives a special award at years end. To date, only Ray Sand, Jr. and Rob Warren have accomplished this Herculean task. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The season-long SUPRS Fast Car Dash Challenge awards drivers that win a Fast Car Dash with five points, while just making the Dash pays a point. At the end of the season the points get tallied and the driver with the most, wins a special award. This challenge is similar to the old Heat Race Challenge that ran for a few years in the early days of the sanction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warren Going for SUPRS History<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Last season “Rocket” Rob Warren of Pulaski, NY won one of the most intense SUPRS Championship battles in the history of the sanction. Narrowly beating out Keith Powell in a battle that wasn’t over until the checkered flag flew at the 2019 Summit Classic 125, Warren matched the feat Ray Sand, Jr. accomplished in 2013 by taking his third Gold Crest Wing Championship in a row. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Sand, Jr. has a total of 10 SUPRS championship crowns, (including seven in the wing and three in the non-wing), to Warren’s total of seven, (three in the wing and four in the non-wing), no driver has ever won more than three championships in a row. Warren could pull that off this year and is one of the favorites going into the new season after also winning the 2019 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
