October 15, 2019 \u2013 Marne, MI\u2026<\/strong><\/em> Keith Powell, of Carrollton, OH can add his name to the record books as being the winner of the first Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), sanctioned race ever held at the famed Berlin Raceway after bagging the Wolverine 50 on October 15. Powell, driving the Icings on Top #55, led all 50 laps of the race and broke Rob Warren’s win streak at two. Warren, crossed the line in second and was in contention to win for most of the race while also holding off Bob Gangwer who finished third. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feels Awesome to Powell<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“It feels awesome to win the first event here, even if it is in that ‘state up north’,” said Powell referring to the rivalry his home state of Ohio has with Michigan, which is where Berlin is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We got lucky starting on the pole,” continued the Icings on Top sponsored racer. “We had clean air, but it wasn’t easy because I could hear Rob for the first 30% of the race.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gangwer Sets Track Record<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in the night, Gangwer turned a lap of 15.245 seconds to become the first SUPRS Track Record Holder at Berlin. Powell won the Fast Car Dash, and Henry “Bandit” Kelleher claimed the Heat Race.<\/p>\n

Warren maintains the championship point<\/a> lead as the series moves south next week for the three-night 16th<\/sup> Annual North Carolina Swing which features five different tracks and two sim racing platforms.<\/p>\n
