12 Race Non-Wing Supermodified Sim Racing Season Begins June 2<\/em><\/h2>\n

May 12, 2020 \u2013 Goshen, IN\u2026<\/em><\/strong> The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), has released the final version of it’s 16th<\/sup> Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified sim racing schedule. The summer schedule shows 12 races using the NASCAR Heat and rFactor sim racing platforms and begins at Oswego Speedway on June 2 with the 16th<\/sup> Annual Port City Kick-Off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUPRS 16th Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Championship Schedule has 12 races running from June 2 to August 12, 2020.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The 12 race non-wing supermodified sim racing schedule will feature races using an updated version of the SUPRS non-wing supermodified rFactor modification and all but one of the races are at SUPRS virtual version of “The Home of the Supermodifieds” – Oswego Speedway<\/a>. Three NASCAR Heat non-wing supermodified races will also be contested throughout the course of the summer, and all events are going to be available vid SUPRS LIVE! for the fifth straight year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interesting plot twist to an already much anticipated season, SUPRS, is expecting one of the largest field of rookies since the early 2000s. The roster shows nearly 10 drivers that are eligible for the Icings on Top<\/a> Rookie of the Year Award including real supermodified racers AJ Russell, Alison Sload, Lance Jackson, and Jeff West. The rookie crop will certainly have their work cut out for them though as they battle SUPRS veterans like 4-Time Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion Rob Warren, 2016 non-wing champ Keith Powell, Carl “Bonzai” Becker, Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh who recently won 9 out of 10 SUPRS races, and former Rookies of the Year Nelson Rodrigues, Brad Keysor and Zach Sears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June is Jumping<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The 16th<\/sup> season of SUPRS non-wing supermodified sim racing kicks off on Wednesday, June 2, 2020 with the running of the Port City Kick-Off at Oswego Speedway. This rFactor event has varied in length over the years, and this season has a 50 lap feature. Keith Powell started his 2019 campaign strong, winning his first Port City Kick-Off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next week on June 9, SUPRS runs the first “Regular 45” show of the season. This quick 45 lap feature format leaves no room for waiting around and has produced some of the best supermodified sim racing seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 16, SUPRS honors the memory of the “father of the modern supermodified,” Jim Shampine with the running of the 15th<\/sup> Annual Jim Shampine Memorial 80. Shampine tops the list of All-Time Winners at Oswego Speedway with 87 feature victories. He was a 7-time track champion, and won the prestigious International Classic 200 three times. This race is the first of two \u2018guaranteed starter\u201d races for the season ending Topless! 200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venturing out from Oswego Speedway, SUPRS officials have added South Boston Speedway to the schedule on June 23. This fantastic track has never hosted real supermodifieds, but with a desire to try something different, a 45 lap event using the ‘regular” format of handicapped heat races and feature inversion should prove very entertaining on the famous southern track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Racing in June concludes with a slightly earlier date than normal for the Independence Day Twin 35s at Oswego Speedway. Because of the leap year, the date has moved from the traditional first Tuesday of July to the last Tuesday of June on the 30th. This year the SUPRS racers will compete in both their rFactor and NASCAR Heat non-wing supermodifieds in a special format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Big Shows in July<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The month of July is loaded with big supermodified sim racing shows and it gets started with the 100 lap Mid-Season Championship at July 7 at Oswego Speedway. Drivers gain points throughout the night from the Heat Races all the way to the end of the 100 lap feature as they race to become the 2020 SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Champion. The driver that does so gains 15 bonus points and a trophy courtesy of WAG’s Custom & Cool Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a slight adjustment, the popular 1st<\/sup> to Finish Race Servers \u201cIrregular 45\u201d has moved to the second week of July on the 14th after being held early in June since it was started. This race will have heats, consolation races, a semi-feature and 45 lap feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is a tip of the hat to the challenging formats that made a feature win at the real Oswego Speedway a real accomplishment during the track’s greatest years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUPRS annual break from online supermodified sim racing happens the week of July 20-27. This allows fans and members the chance to enjoy the popular International Supermodified Association<\/a> Hy-Miler Supermodified Nationals at Sandusky Speedway. This race is part of the real supermodified \u201cTriple Crown\u201d and many SUPRS members will be in attendance on July 24-26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the racers come back they\u2019ll vie for the 13th<\/sup> Annual Mr. Online Supermodified title on Tuesday July 28 and Wednesday July 29. This wing and non-wing supermodified two-day event will use both the rFactor, and NASCAR Heat sim racing platforms in a format that awards points to the drivers every time they hit the track. The driver that accumulates the most points over the two-day event is then crowned Mr. Online Supermodified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Whistler” Signals Start of August<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On August 4 at the \u201cHome of the Supermodifieds,” the 16th<\/sup> running of \u201cThe Whistler\u201d Pete Trenca Memorial 60 takes place. Last year the race was NASCAR Heat and this year it’s back to rFactor for the event that honors the memory of Peter “Program” Trenca. Trenca was an Oswego Speedway icon and one of the founding members of the Eagles Fan Club. His smiling face and iconic whistle left a lasting memory on all those that were lucky enough to meet him as they passed through the main gate of Oswego. The driver that wins this race also wins a Guaranteed Starting Spot for the 16th<\/sup> Annual Topless! 200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Topless! 200 Week Closes Season<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

To close out the 16th<\/sup> consecutive year of SUPRS non-wing supermodified sim racing, Topless! 200 week begins on Sunday August 9 with SUPRS Sunday Night Test-N-Tune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then on Monday, August 10 it\u2019s the SUPRS Mod 200 presented by The Mod Squad and hosted by HeatFinder.net returns for the second year in a row. The stars of the Super HEAT Modified Tour will be joined by many of the SUPRS regulars who will to strap into their full-bodied hot rods and test their skills at pit stops and making a car with doors last 200 laps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the same night prior to the SUPRS Mod 200, the winged supermodifieds hit the track for the 50 lap SUPRSNationals race that will bring an end to the 2019-20 Empire State Supermodified Series regional tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thrills continue on Tuesday, August 11,  with the Rising Star 50 for drivers that have never won a SUPRS non-wing supermodified feature. The winner of this race will earn a guaranteed starting place for the 16th<\/sup> Annual Topless! 200, allowing him to breath a little easier before he sets his focus on Time Trials for the 16th<\/sup> Annual Topless! 200.  Only the  top two drivers with the top two times are locked into the big season ending show, but guaranteed starters, if they are fast enough, can avoid having to run the ‘wacky races’ that are also part of the 16th<\/sup> Annual Topless! 200 Pole Night. After qualifying heat races and a b-main, the 20 car starting field will be set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The previous three nights of action lead up to Wednesday, August 12, when it\u2019s time to go Topless!  Anticipation will build right to the drop of the green flag for the 16th<\/sup> Annual Topless! 200 at Oswego Speedway. When the checkered flag falls after 200 grueling non-wing supermodified sim racing laps at Oswego Speedway, a new champion will be crowned and the curtain will fall on the 2020 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it’s become very popular of late due to the stay at home orders and a lack of real racing to enjoy, SUPRS is no stranger to streaming live sim racing. In fact, SUPRS was the first to bring live supermodified sim racing to the fans via live broadcasting in 2016 with the broadcast of Pole Night for the 12th Annual Topless! 200. SUPRS history of pushing this envelope dates back to 2008 when the very first SUPRS broadcast took place on a tape delayed based from Jennerstown Speedway for the Randy Witkum Memorial thanks to a partnership with High Speed Radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to Hairbag Studios in Baldwinsville, NY, SUPRS fans can follow along again in 2020 as they watch their favorite SUPRS racers via  SUPRS LIVE!<\/a> Live streaming video, timing, scoring and stats shows multiple cameras, instantaneous position changes, lap times, penalties, race status, and commentating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
