Empire State Super Series Begins with Blind Date at One of Three Potential NY Tracks<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

December 8, 2020 \u2013 Goshen, IN\u2026<\/strong><\/em>The first race of the year-long Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 2020-21 Empire State Super Series, (ESS), Regional Tour is tonight, December 8, 2020, and just like all blind dates, the drivers can’t be sure of what to expect. After practice one of three potential tracks will be chosen at random for Blind Date Night.<\/p>\n\n\n

Blind Date Night Options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The SUPRS Blind Date Night has been a tradition since the very start of the sanction when it ran four races in one night on New Year\u2019s Eve known as the New Year\u2019s Eve 4-n-1 Bash. For the 2010-11 season the idea was dropped in favor of just one race and the drivers knew where that one would be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But beginning with the 2014-15 season, the current incarnation of this event arose with three track options for SUPRS Blind Date Night. Since then there’s been no repeat winners of this event. All of the options this season are NASCAR Heat tracks built by Mike Jackson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first option is the very tricky Andover Speedway. This quarter-mile, high-banked fictional track has corners where drivers dive down in at high-speed, slamming the low slung roadsters to the ground. They have to dodge the buried tires in the infield then drive back up out of the corners. Each time they do, the walls come up quick and they\u2019ll have to master the bumps on corner exit as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marlboro Speedway is the second track that could be drawn for Blind Date Night. Marlboro Speedway is a slightly-banked half-mile that\u2019s nearly flat with only 2 degrees of banking. With wide straights and long sweeping turns, the drivers are turning nearly as long as they are going straight each lap they turn on this picturesque speedway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third and final option is the recently rediscovered MT Bullring. In this case, MT stands for Mountain, and the drivers will have a mountainous chore in front of them as they try to navigate this incredibly deceptive 1\/4 mile track where they have to fight to keep the cars off the Armco walls each time they come up and out of the banked corners. It’s truly a track where slower is faster, but also has a distinct second groove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SUPRS racers have never had a race date at any of this season\u2019s potential tracks. So, regardless of which track is drawn out of the hat, there will be a track record set in Time Trials and someone will go into SUPRS history as the first winner at the selected speed venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A SUPRS-HeatFinder.net Supermodified Challenge Race<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Like all NASCAR Heat races on the SUPRS schedule this year, the ESS Blind Date Night is part of the SUPRS\/HeatFinder.net<\/a> Supermodified Challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This race is open to any driver that has registered<\/a> as a website user at SUPRS.net, has the SUPRS W v6 modification, and all three tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n

Last year, Keith Powell survived a wild race at Diamond Speedway to come home a big winner on Blind Date Night after starting in third place and also winning his heat race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2020-21 Empire State Super Series Regional Tour goes on SUPRS Blind Date Night on December 8, 2020. The drivers will speed date through all three tracks in a 15 minute Hot Lap session which starts at 8:00pm. the Drivers Meeting follows and Time Trials are at 8:30pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first Heat Race is scheduled to begin at 9:05pm. The 50 lap ESS Blind Date Night Feature Event should begin around 9:30pm and get everyone home in time for curfew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
