January 15, 2021 – Goshen, IN…<\/em><\/strong>The brave drivers of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), are getting ready to buckle up for one of the fastest events of the season, the Buckeye 50 for rFactor supermodified sim racing Tuesday January 19, 2021 at Mansfield Motorsports Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of Action, Close Racing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From the drop of the green flag at the first Buckeye 50 in 2017, there has never been a lack of action or close quarters racing. Every 50 lap feature has gone right down to the wire, but not before some spectacular spins and some crazy crashes each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drivers nearly flat-foot their rFactor supermodifieds around this high-banked 1\/2 mile, running laps well under 12 seconds at the track that hosted the real supermodifieds before shutting it’s doors for good in 2020. Being on the ragged edge definitely keeps the drivers on their toes after they buckle up for the Buckeye 50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multiple lead changes throughout the race is a normal occurrence with three different drivers leading every year but 2017 when two drivers shared the front spot during the race. None of the races since that first one in 2017 won by Rob Warren, have been won by more than a half second at the line. The closest finish coming in 2019 when a three-way shoot out to the checkers occurred between Bob Gangwer, Keith Powell and track record holder, Derrick Backus. Gangwer took the win in his Belfab Chassis by just .096 of a second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Powell Favored<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Keith Powell became the first two-time winner at Mansfield in another close finish. Based on his finishing record, the Ohio native is considered the odds-on favorite to win the event again this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Icings on Top racer has been on the podium in three of the last four races. Powell’s worst finish came in 2017 when he still came home in fifth place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 15 minute practice session starts at 8:00pm with Time Trials at 8:45pm after the Drivers Meeting. A full slate of racing action, including qualifying heats and the 50 lap feature gets underway at 9:05pm and you can see it all with SUPRS LIVE!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
