In 1980 Shampine led all 200 laps of the storied race that many consider the &#8220;Indy 500&#8221; of supermodified racing. It&#8217;s a record that still stands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While\u00a0not\u00a0as\u00a0prolific outside of his home track as some others, &#8220;The Pine&#8221;, as he was affectionately known, mastered the tight\u00a01\/4 mile confines of Star Speedway well enough to claim the victory in the Star Speedway International Classic\u00a0200 there twice. The drivers meeting is at 8:30pm. Time Trials lock in the Elite 8 qualifiers at 8:45pm and racing is set to start at 9:05pm with the 12 lap B-Main, (if needed), prior to the 80 lap rFactor non-wing supermodified sim racing feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Full details for the Jim Shampine Memorial are on the SUPRS <a href=\"https:\/\/suprs.net\/site\/rulesleague-info\/schedule\/\">Schedule<\/a>.
