July 6, 2021 – Oswego, NY…<\/strong><\/em>It may have taken a while, but now that the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), has hit the half-way point of the summer schedule, Brad Keysor’s season has taken a turn for the better and he can now call himself a Mid-Season Champion after his feature win on July 6 at Oswego Speedway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keysor led 63 laps of the Mid-Season Championship 100 for non-wing supermodifieds in a fantastic feature event that had just one caution on lap 58. Keysor’s torrid pace was even too much for defending SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion, and defending Mid-Season Champion, Dave Ohh, who finished nearly three seconds behind the winner in second place. Ryan Cloonan held on for a podium finish, his sixth in seven races, and maintained his point lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keysor’s win and the Mid-Season Championship bonus points were enough to propel him into second place in the overall championship standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver Keysor passed in the point standings, Rob Warren, led 36 laps and had a mostly uneventful feature, running most of the race by himself on the way to a fourth place finish. Keith Powell, who started in third place, dropped as low as eighth, but was able to claw his way back into the top five by the end of the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Notes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It was another clean night of racing, with Danny Ray the only driver to have issues when he clipped the turn one grate which upset his car enough to cause a spin and wall contact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anthony Corsoniti of N. Syracuse, NY had another good week of racing. Leading one feature lap and running a very measured pace, the rookie driver hung onto the top five for most of the race before being passed by Powell. Corsoniti then fought hard to keep fellow Icings on Top Rookie of the Year contender, Greg Breen at bay for the remainder of the race. Breen had solid run in his first race back to SUPRS competition in a couple of weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heat wins went to Rob Warren and Ryan Cloonan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUPRS Goes Old School at Next Race<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), goes “old school cool” with the 1st<\/sup> to Finish \u201cIrReGuLar 45\u201d on July 13  featuring a format that is modeled after the same one that helped maked Oswego Speedway<\/a> famous in the short-track racing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Race Details<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Official practice for the 1st<\/sup> to Finish \u201cIrReGuLar 45\u201d begins at 8:30pm. There is a Drivers meeting at 8:45pm. Racing starts at 9:05pm with the first of two 10 lap qualifying heat races after which two 15 lap semi-features precede the 45 lap feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
