June 28, 2022 – Oswego, NY…<\/strong><\/em>Zach Sears and Dave Ohh split the wins at the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Independence Day Twin 35s June 28 at Oswego Speedway. Ryan Cloonan finished third in the first feature behind Ohh, while Bob Gangwer came home third in the second feature behind Cloonan who was second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sears led all 35 laps of the first feature which went green to checkered in nine minutes and 21 seconds, while Ohh, who started in sixth place of the eight car invert for the second feature, led all but seven laps of that 35 lap affair. Keith Powell (2), and Brad Keysor (5) were the other leaders of the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Notes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For the second year in a row, the Independence Day Twin 35s failed to live up to their somewhat maligned history that generally has drivers licking their wounds after a rough night of race. The two features went off quickly with a lot of close quarters, but respectful racing. One of the best battles in both features was between Keith Powell and Anthony Corsoniti fighting for a top five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two oldest drivers in the field finished both features. Carl Becker and Danny Ray may not have been the fastest cars on the track, but they hung on and finished ninth and tenth respectively in the first 35 lapper, then Becker pulled down a seventh place finish in the second feature, holding off Ray who finished eighth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second race had a little more attrition than the first, with Sears, Keysor and Gary Waldron failing to finish. It was a tough night all the way around for Waldron in the Michigan Hill Gang #10 as he also had trouble in the first feature and registered a DNF. Nelson Rodrigues was also credited with a DNF after doing a long lazy slide in the pits, but clipped the wall ripping his tire off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dave Ohh and Ryan Cloonan picked up the 10 lap heat race wins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUPRS Mid-Season Championship Next<\/h3>\n

SUPRS is already at the midway point of the 2022 Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified season and that means that on July 5 it\u2019s time for the Mid-Season Championship.<\/p>\n

The championship battle is a close one, and with a big double points show on the line, the field should be stout. A full format of heat races and the 100 lap feature at Oswego Speedway<\/a> all pay points and the driver that collects the most points for his heat race and feature finish is crowned the 2021 Gold Crest Non-Wing Mid-Season Champion!<\/p>\n

Official practice for the SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship begins at 8:00pm. There is a Drivers Meeting at 8:10pm. Racing is set to start at 8:20pm with the first of two 10 lap qualifying heat races. The green flag for the 100 lap feature is should fly at about 8:40pm ET.<\/p>\n
