January 16, 2023 – Goshen, IN…<\/em><\/strong>For the second week in a row, the Supermodfied Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), drivers will be racing in The Buckeye State as part of the SUPRS Ohio State 500 Series for supermodified sim racing. This week though, it’s a double-header that will certainly be challenging for the SUPRS racers because it’s the first time SUPRS has sanctioned a race at these tracks, and both are tight, fast, and slick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Columbus Motor Speedway First<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For the first race of the night, the 2022-23 Ohio State 500 Series heads to the tight, but quick confines of Columbus Motor Speedway for the third of the five race series.

One of the trickiest tracks of the season-long challenge, CMS hosted the original Ohio State 500 Series starting in 1975 and Bobby Baker, who went on to win the championship, won it. In \u201876 the first race scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 29 got rained out. When the series returned on Tuesday, June 1, 1976, \u201cThe King of the Supermodifieds\u201d Bentley Warren picked up his third Ohio State 500 series win. Ironically, Bentely was beat out of the OS500 championship by another guy that would go on to race well in to his 60s, Frank Riddle of Tampa, FL.

In 1977 Warren Coniam of Burlington, Ontario, Canada kicked off the Ohio State 500 with a win, then backed it up the next night at Lorain County.

The OS500 format of time trials, and a 100 lap rFactor supermodified sim racing feature is sure to be a challenge within the tight \u2153 mile of Columbus Motor Speedway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorain County Speedway Second Race of Night<\/h3>\n\n\n\n


After a quick break, it’s over to Lorain County Speedway for the second race of a double-header night on January 17, 2023 and the next to last event of the five race SUPRS Ohio State 500 Series.

\u201cThe County\u201d hosted the original Ohio State 500 Series for real supermodifieds in the first year it was ever run in 1974 when the great Ollie Silva won. In 1975, Bobby Baker of Utah picked up the win, while in 1976, the Ohio State 500 skipped The County. When it came back for the final year of the five race series in 1977, \u201cThe Snake\u201d Warren Coniam of Canada won it.

The SUPRS Ohio State 500 Series format of time trials, and a 100 lap rFactor supermodified sim racing feature is sure to be a challenge at the fast, but slick virtual version of the \u215c mile Lorain County Speedway.
