January 11, 2023 – Sandusky, OH<\/em><\/strong>\u2026Dave Ohh continues to etch his name at the top end of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing series, (SUPRS) record book, and after winning the 15th<\/sup> Annual Terry Gibson Memorial Wednesday at Sandusky Speedway<\/a>, he is now tied with Ray Sand, Jr. with four; the most all-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was Ohh’s third straight win in the 100 lap grind at “The Northcoast Home of the Supermodifieds” after also winning the 50 lap prelim for the fourth time the night before. Early race leader Brad Keysor finished in second. Zach Sears had another week of good racing after working his way from eighth starting place, to third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting Position Made Win Tough<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dave Ohh is never one to shy away from a challenge, but starting in fifth position, wasn’t something he enjoyed in his quest for the win. “It was a real battle early,” he said. Getting damage early getting up through the field didn’t make it easy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ohh was surprised that there wasn’t a lot of lapped traffic in the 100 lap grind. “There wasn’t a lot of lapped traffic this year which was a surprise,” he said. He did have one tough battle and a close call due to what little lapped traffic he encountered. I had to work Gary, (Waldron), for a few laps, but I made that happen, then I just wore it down. I had a close one when I climbed the front stretch wall, but it turned out all right.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was different being able to use the high side, it didn’t work great, but everyone was stacked up on the bottom and I don’t remember passing on the high side in a feature here before so that was different.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ohh Wins Gibson Fast 50 on Tuesday<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dave Ohh, of Union, CT, won his fourth Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Gibson Fast 50 Tuesday night at Sandusky Speedway. It was the third time in a row that checkered flag had flown over the #11 TMS<\/a> Wolfpack machine in the prelim to the Terry Gibson Memorial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ohh passed early leader, Bob Gangwer on lap 23 and went on to win by over two seconds. Gangwer held onto a second finishing a comfortable seven seconds in front of Brad Keysor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gangwer and Anthony Corsoniti won their respective 10 lap qualifying heat races on Tuesday where the top three got their handicaps back for the feature inversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to Back in the Buckeye State<\/h3>\n

The SUPRS racers are hanging out in Ohio for another week as they prepare for the SUPRS Ohio State 500 Series double-header next Tuesday January 17. The first race of the night is at the small but fast Columbus Motor Speedway where the drivers will always be turning for the 100 lap feature. After completing the third race of the 2022-23 SUPRS Ohio State 500 Series at the dizzying fast Columbus, the drivers head north to another tight track for the second 100 lapper of the night. Race four of the series is to be held at the rough and tumble Lorain County Speedway. The track is somewhat slick and there’s a real uniqueness to this venue that played host to the real Ohio State 500 Series for supermodifieds in 1974, ’75, and 1977.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
