January 17, 2023 – Middleburg Heights, OH…<\/strong><\/em>After an intense and challenging night of racing in the “Buckeye State,” Brad Keysor and Dave Ohh were the winners of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Ohio State 500 Series Double-Header Tuesday night at Columbus Motor Speedway and Lorain County Speedway. Zach Sears finished third in both races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surprisingly Clean<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Before the night began, many of the drivers were wondering how much fuel to put in their supermodified sim racing machines because of worries of how many cautions in each race would happen. Their fears were never really realized even with the largest car count to date at Columbus. 15 cars took the green flag and while six cautions for 18 laps did slow the race, nine of the starters made it to the finish line. The worst crash came on a restart after a lap eight caution for rookie Eric Merkley, and claimed Nelson Rodrigues and Danny Ray, but also included Bob Gangwer and Steven Vincent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second show of the night at Lorain County Speedway was even more of a surprise. Most drivers thought the race at “The County” would be the most treacherous of the night, but in the end, only three caution flags came out, and eight of the 13 starters took the checkered flag. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usual Suspects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The usual suspects of Brad Keysor, Dave Ohh, and Zach Sears cleaned up for the night at both shows. The only driver to crack into their triple-threat party was Ryan Cloonan who led to laps at Lorain County. Otherwise it was Ohh and Keysor leading all the other laps, setting fast lap of the race, and each claiming a track record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With just one Ohio State 500 race left, Dave Ohh will be tough to beat for the overall regional crown. Keysor is doing what he can to keep him honest being just 45 points behind Ohh in second. Ryan Cloonan has a remote shot sitting 55 points out in third. The final race of the five-race series won’t be until March at the St. Patrick’s Day Grab O’ the Green at New Bremen Speedway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mid-Season Championship Next<\/h4>\n

The SUPRS racers head east now to New York for the Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship at \u201cThe Home of the Supermodifieds,\u201d Oswego Speedway<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A huge points night at \u201cThe Home of the Supermodifieds\u201d Oswego Speedway marks the mid-way mark of the 2022-23 Gold Crest Wing Championship XIX season.<\/p>\n

The Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Championship is jam-packed with a full-night of supermodified sim racing including Time Trials, the BMK Logistics Fast Car Dash, Heat Races, and the 75 lap Feature event!<\/p>\n

Drivers will fight for points all night long from the time they hit the track for Time Trials through the checkered flag at the end of the feature. And for the first time in the history of the race, they\u2019ll also earn passing points in the feature event. The driver that ends up with the most points overall will go home as the Mid-Season Champion and have ANOTHER 15 bonus points added to his season championship total!<\/p>\n

PLUS! This race is part of the year-long Empire State Super Series Regional Tour and will pay points towards that championship as well!<\/p>\n
