\u00a0Bob Gangwer Stops Rob Warren from Sweeping Second Night of Swing<\/em><\/h2>\n

Jacksonville, NC – November 4,<\/strong><\/em> 2015…<\/strong>Try as he might Rob Warren couldn’t quite repeat\u00a0the feat he’s pulled off the last two years and came up just one win short of \u00a0sweeping\u00a0the second night of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series 12th<\/sup> Annual North Carolina Swing Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Warren led all 40 laps at Concord Motorsports Park\u00a0but finished third behind winner Bob Gangwer and second place finisher Ray Sand, Jr. at Coastal Plains Raceway.<\/p>\n

Sand, Jr. was a model of consistency, finishing second in both races after winning both races last night. Sand, Jr. once again fought his way from the back of the pack to challenge Warren at Concord and Gangwer at Coastal Plains for the win.<\/p>\n

While he may have led from the drop of the green flag to the waving of the checkered at Concord, just like last year, Warren had his work cut out for him.<\/p>\n

“I had a pretty good lead built up and kept thinking I had it, then all of a sudden there’s a yellow 18 swallowing it up,” said the driver of the 1st to Finish Docks & Hoists racer. Warren was third in the second race at Coastal Plains and said that his plan didn’t pan out. “I kept thinking I had a pretty good plan and that there was a lot of laps after I dropped back at the start, but I kept hitting the inside wall and by the fourth time I was out to lunch,” he explained.<\/p>\n

In the second race, 2013 North Carolina Swing Champion Bob Gangwer grabbed the lead from Dave Brigandi on lap one and led the rest of the 50 lap feature to get his first win of the SUPRS season.<\/p>\n

“I know a lot of people don’t like this track, but I’ve always felt like it’s a great challenge so I’m pretty happy to win here. Congratulations to Rob on the win and Ray on the two seconds,” he said.<\/p>\n

Ray Sand, Jr. was pleased with his two second place finishes stating, “That was some good racing tonight. Hats off to Rob and Bob they both ran good lines and I just didn’t have enough to get around them.<\/p>\n

The qualifying races are now complete and the top eight drivers after those four events will now receive an invitation to The Hickory Hustle at Hickory Motor Speedway. The winner of that race will be crowned the 2015 North Carolina Swing Champion, but to win, the SUPRS racers will have to overcome a random draw for starting position and 75 intense laps of action in very close quarters. Practice begins at 8:00pm with racing slated to go at 8:45.<\/p>\n
