Rob Warren Sweeps Night 2 of North Carolina Swing, Third Time in Four Years<\/span><\/h2>\n

Concord, NC – November 3,<\/strong><\/em> 2016…<\/strong>After a dismal showing last night, Pulaski, New York sim racer Rob Warren was back to his winning ways, pulling off a sweep of races three and four at the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 13th Annual North Carolina Swing.<\/p>\n

Rob Warren swept Night 2 of the 13th Annual North Carolina Swing for the third time in four years.<\/p><\/div>\n

The wins at Southern National Raceway Park and Concord Motorsports Park mark the third time in four years that Warren has accomplished this feat. It is also the fourth year in a row that he has won at Concord. In fact, he has been so dominate at the high-banked asphalt tri-oval that out of a possible 200 laps run, Warren has now led 186 of them.<\/p>\n

“Last night was rough, tonight was a lot better,” he admitted. “The first race starting outside the front row sure helped. I had a lot of pressure from KP, (Keith Powell), who had the fastest lap, but I have to thank him for running me clean.”<\/p>\n

In the first race of the night held at Southern National Raceway Park, Warren, after setting a track record of 10.788 seconds, started outside row one and immediately stole the lead from polesitter Kyle Clark. He went on to lead all 40 laps in the caution filled event that had as many yellow flag laps as it did green.<\/p>\n

Keith Powell finished second and although he made repeated attempts to get by the leader, was never able to seriously threaten for the win with the short spurts of action between cautions.<\/p>\n

Domenic Gioia ran a smart race, keeping his car clean and using patience and tact to come home with his best finish so far this season in third.\u00a0Steve Callahan and Bob Gangwer rounded out the top five and the lead lap cars.<\/p>\n

The second race of the night at Concord Motorsports Park was nothing like the first and the caution never flew until past the half-way point at lap 26 for a simple spin by Chad Phelps who was running in the top three at the time after starting outside of polesitter Kevin Timmins.<\/p>\n

Phelps led the first 14 laps, but after his spin, Warren took over and never looked back except to stave off a late race challenge by Joe Achzet.<\/p>\n

For Warren, the biggest shock was the lack of cautions in the 50 lap affair. “In the second race, once I\u00a0made it up to the lead, I was surprised we didn’t have more cautions.,” he said. I thought we’d have a pile more after the first one and was really shocked that it was past half-way before the first one flew.”<\/p>\n

“Thanks to Joe, (Achzet), for running me clean in the second race. Night two is definitely better than night one,” said the smiling winner.<\/p>\n

Like Gioia in the first race, Timmins drove his heart out to hold on for his first podium finish of the season and was a lap ahead of Derrick Backus and Keith Powell who finished inside the top five.<\/p>\n

The qualifying races are now complete and invitations to The Hickory Hustle at Hickory Motor Speedway have been sent out to the following drivers:<\/p>\n
