“The Rabbit” Joe Achzet Wins Turkey Shoot and Burgers’ Smokehouse Thanksgiving Turkey<\/span><\/h2>\n

Memphis, TN \u2013 November 15, 2016\u2026<\/strong><\/em>Joe Achzet of Yorkville, NY lived up to his nickname “The Rabbit” taking off at the start to led all 40 laps and take the win in the 12th<\/sup> Annual Turkey Shoot for the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS),  at Memphis Motorsports Park. Achzet’s second feature win of the season earned him a Thanksgiving turkey from Burgers’ Smokehouse<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Achzet was quick all night long setting a New Track Record of 17.302 and winning the Turkey Trot Dash. He wasted no time getting out front and the only thing slowing him down on the way to his second feature win of the season were two quick cautions.<\/p>\n

“This is definitively redemption after a couple of weeks,” said the driver of the GraphX car. ” I took a different approach tonight. I wasn’t going to conserve for 40 laps and I wasn’t going to give anyone a shot at me. I was going to run away and hide and if they were fast enough to catch me they caught me.” <\/p>\n

Keith Powell chased Achzet across the line nearly two seconds in arrears while Rob Warren held off a hard charging Domenic Gioia at the end of the race to finish third. Gioia set the fastest lap of the race.<\/p>\n

Chad Phelps brought home the 10 lap heat race win in his first race back with SUPRS in a couple of weeks. His teammate Kyle Clark had one of his best runs of the season so far with a strong fifth place finish.<\/p>\n

SUPRS takes two weeks off to allow members to spend time with their families over the Thanksgiving holiday. Action fires up again on November 29 for the 13th<\/sup> Annual Wing Side Up Twin 25s at Bristol Motor Speedway. Full details can be found on the SUPRS schedule<\/a> page.<\/p>\n
