Joe Achzet Wins Second Race in a Row, Rob Warren Ties John Davidson for All-Time Wing Side Up Twin Victories<\/span><\/h2>\n

November 29, 2016 – Bristol, TN…<\/strong><\/em>Joe Achzet and Rob Warren split the wins in the 13th<\/sup> Annual Wing Side Up<\/a> Twin 25s at Bristol Motor Speedway after two very competitive races for the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Achzet inherited the lead when Steve Callahan met a lapped car faster than he expected. His CPR Motorsports machine quickly swapped ends while trying to avoid the slower car and somehow the close running pack missed him. His shot at winning another Wing Side Up Twin 25 was dashed, but he was able to pick a few spots at the end to finish seventh.<\/p>\n

It was then all Achzet at the point, but with each restart he had his hands full holding off Rob Warren. The two, who have had their fair share of close encounters already this season, raced each other and the mighty Tennessee racetrack with great respect as they fought to keep Chad Phelps behind them.<\/p>\n

Going right down to the wire, the two fought each other and their worn out sim racing supermodifieds down the backstretch on the last lap. Holding their breath and gripping the steering wheel tight, they came from turn four side by side with Achzet able to eek out the win by just 0.098 seconds.<\/p>\n

While moving through the pack to the front toward his third win of the season, Achzet passed the most cars and received the SUPRSCharger award worth 10 bonus points.<\/p>\n

In the second feature race  Warren got a great jump from the outside row one and took the lead away from Keith Powell by the time the two hit the backstretch. Warren held off spirited charges by Powell, Joe Achzet and Chad Phelps, watching as the scoreboard showed all but Powell fall victim to the treacherous banks of Bristol.<\/p>\n

Powell, who is in a fierce Gold Crest Wing Championship points battle with Warren, hung on to second at the finish with Kyle Clark charging from fifth to third on a late race restart.<\/p>\n

It was the Pulaski, NY native’s third win of the season. He set the fastest lap of both features as well.<\/p>\n

Domenic Gioia claimed the SUPRSCharger in the second Twin 25 after advancing four places from where he started.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the evening, Steve Callahan set a new track record when he obliterated the timing clocks with an 11.464 second lap.<\/p>\n

Chad  Phelps won the lone heat race over Kevin Timmins, Dave Brigandi, and Carl Becker.<\/p>\n

SUPRS resumes action in just one week on December 6 for the prestigious 13th<\/sup> Annual Dion Parish Memorial at Kalamazoo Speedway.<\/p>\n

Practice begins at 8:00pm and Racing at 9:00pm.<\/p>\n
