Supermodified racer Jeff Russell was critically injured at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring in October of 2010. Jeff was preparing for the Supermodified Racing Association, (SMRA), Speedfest when something broke on his supermodified entering turn one. Jeff hit the wall with tremendous force and even though he had the best safety equipment, he sustained life threatening injuries. Fortunately Jeff lived but sustained Traumatic Brain Injury.
