Supermodified fan for over 30 years. Heard about this MOD and had to give it try! Been doing graphic art and design for along time. Owner of Breezegraphics Supermodified Art. Specializing in Vinyl Stickers and Window Clings. So designing my own paint scheme is right up my alley. :)
Looking to enjoy some SUPRS racing and meet some new friends. Picked #77 in honor of "The King of Supermodifieds" Bentley Warren. I'll never forget that ragged old car (former swift 10pins) he used to muscle around The Steel Palace in the 70's.
January 20, 2020 – Goshen, IN…If the last three editions of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Buckeye 50 is any indication, supermodified sim racing fans are in for a thriller when the sanction visits Mansfield Motorsports Park f on January 21, 2020.
Down to the Checkers
Since 2017 when SUPRS made a triumphant return to Mansfield with the rFactor sim racing platform, every race has gone right down to the checkered flag. 2018 and 2019 in particular, were incredibly close finishes, and 2019 featured a last lap pass for the win and a spectacular crash at the finish line.
The race last year was the just the fourth time that SUPRS has competed at Mansfield, and all four times there’s been a different winner. However, two of those winners have figured into the finish all but one year. Keith Powell and Bob Gangwer each have a win in the Buckeye 50, and both have finished on the podium in three of the four SUPRS races at Mansfield.
From a team standpoint, it’s hard to argue the prowess of Disturbed Motorsports out of Mexico, NY. All three drivers, Chad Phelps, Derrick Backus, and Kyle Clark, have had moments of greatness at this bumpy high-banked half-mile.
Backus is the current track record holder and nearly won the race last year. Clark was in contention for the win in 2018. And Phelps, although he didn’t run last year, has led the race twice.
Get the Most out of Mansfield Action
Make sure you schedule a reminder so you don’t miss any of the action from SUPRS Buckeye 50, January 21, 2020 at Mansfield Motorsports Park. A 15 minute practice session starts at 8:15pm with Time Trials at 8:45pm after the Drivers Meeting. “Supermodified Sim Racing for the Right Reasons” since 2004
January 12, 2020 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), competitors are preparing for the two-night 12th Annual Terry Gibson Memorial on January 14-15 at Sandusky Speedway, a NASCAR Heat supermodified sim race that honors the memory of real supermodified racer Terry Gibson.
Paying Tribute to Terry Gibson
SUPRS Terry Gibson Memorial honors the memory of the late Terry Gibson who lost his life during a heat race for the Midwest Supermodified Association at Toledo Speedway on July 18, 2008. Gibson was competing in his own car, when he climbed a wheel and hit the first turn wall.
Terry Gibson was the son of Oswego and Sandusky Speedway track champion, and USAC and IndyCar competitor, Todd Gibson. He was known for doing more with less while enjoying racing against his brothers Gene Lee, Larry, and Jeff.
Terry is survived by his wife Linda, son, Ryan W. Gibson; a daughter, Lindsay N. Kincaid; his father Todd Gibson, two brothers, Gene Lee (Lucinda) Gibson, Sandusky; Larry (Lisa) Gibson, Marysville; and a sister, Deb (Randy McElroy) Brady, Richwood. Terry was followed in death by his brother Jeff (Shannon) Gibson in 2012, and mother Brenda in 2018.
Win High on SUPRS Racers Bucket List
Because Sandusky Speedway is known as the “North Coast Home of the Supermodifieds,” and is where the Gibson family have experienced much of their racing success, a win at the Terry Gibson Memorial is something that many of the SUPRS members truly want to accomplish.
Sandusky Speedway hosts part of the real supermodified Triple Crown, (the prestigious International Supermodified Association Hy-Miler Supermodified Nationals). Sandusky is is also the home track to many SUPRS members, which adds even more excitement to this particular event.
To date though, no Ohio driver has ever won the 100 lap main event, and just two, Dave Biro III in 2009, and Steve Callahan in 2018 have won the Fast 50.
Two Nights of Supermodified Sim Racing Action
Everything kicks off at 8:30pm Tuesday, January 14 with practice for the Terry Gibson Fast 50. There are no time trials for this race with the drivers having to run qualifying heat races to advance to the feature. Many of the drivers use this race as a tune up for the next night and the winner of the 50 lap main event becomes a guaranteed starter for the Terry Gibson Memorial 100.
On Wednesday, January 15, the racers take to the track at 8:00pm for a 15 minute hot lap session.Time trials are at 8:30pm with heat races to follow at 8:40. The 12th Annual Terry Gibson Memorial 100 is scheduled to take the green flag at approximately 9:15pm.
Winning the Terry Gibson 100 will put that driver’s name in the running for a guaranteed starting spot for the SUPRS Summit 125 coming up at the end of the season.
NASCAR Heat Supermodifieds Live
Both nights of the 12th Annual Terry Gibson Memorial at Sandusky Speedway are part of the SUPRS/HeatFinder.net NASCAR Heat Supermodified Challenge, so fans may see some drivers that aren’t regulars on the SUPRS trail. Last year, 19-Time ARL HeatFinder.net Champion, Dave Ohh, of Union, CT, surprised everyone when he swept both nights and lapped the entire field in the 100 lap 11th Annual Terry Gibson Memorial.
Fans can enjoy both nights of NASCAR Heat supermodified sim racing with SUPRS LIVE! Featuring live streaming video, driver interviews, in stream stats and scoring, SUPRS LIVE! is a family friendly stream where you can cheer on your favorite driver. Tune in both nights starting at 9pm ET to enjoy racing from Sandusky Speedway.
First SUPRS Race of New Decade is at Delaware Speedway in Ontario, Canada
January 4, 2020 – Goshen, IN…The first Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), race of the new decade is the 16th Annual Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby on January 7, and this year the event takes place at Delaware Speedway in Ontario.
Wild and Wacky Format
The Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby has the craziest format of the wing season. The SUPRS racers have to time trial, run a heat, and try to qualify into a “Canadian Pursuit” all as they race against each other and as part of a two-man Snowball Derby Challenge team.
The Snowball Derby Challenge teams are set up right after time trials with the slowest driver from time-trials matching up with the fastest from time trials, the second fastest with the second slowest, and so on. Competing for points in every race of the night, each team member has to do his best for the team, but also be considerate of how his teammate is running.
At the end of the night, the two-man team with the most points between them wins the Snowball Derby Challenge Championship and each driver gets 10 bonus points added to his season championship tally.
Ready for Challenges of New Track
Coming back from a nearly 20 day break to allow members to spend time with family and friends for the Christmas and New Year holidays, you can bet the SUPRS racers are ready to take on the challenge of Delaware Speedway for the first time.
After three chaotic Snowball Derby races at Mosport Speedway, the sanction has moved the race to Delaware Speedway with the goal of putting on a better event. Make no mistake though, while not as oddly shaped, or as narrow as Mosport, Delaware, which is shaped like an egg with a narrow tight corner at one end and a more sweeping corner at the other, will present it’s own set of challenges for the SUPRS competitors.
Part of the allure of the new venue is the fact that it’s the site of the very popular Harvy Lennox Memorial for the International Supermodified Association, (ISMA). This popular race at Delaware is one of only two stops in Canada for the popular supermodifieds and one that honors Canadian racer Harv Lennox. This year the race takes place on August 15.
Watch the Snowballs Fly
SUPRS 16th Annual Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby takes place on January 7, 2020, at Delaware Speedway. Practice starts at 8:00 pm. Time Trials are at 8:30 pm, and Racing gets underway at 9:05 pm with the the first of two Heat Races.
The Canadian Pursuit follows the Heat Races with the 50 lap 16th Annual Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby feature capping the night at Delaware.
SUPRS fans, followers, and friends can watch the snowballs fly in this zany, fun supermodified sim race by tuning in to SUPRS LIVE! @ 9. Cheer on your favorite SUPRS racers, (or in this case SUPRS Snowball Derby Challenge team!), as you enjoy live streaming race video and commentary, was well as, timing, scoring and instant track telemetry as you chat with your fellow fans on the SUPRS LIVE! page.
This live broadcast from Delaware Speedway starts at 9:00 pm est and is a fun, family-friendly place for everyone to celebrate the start of a new supermodified sim racing decade.

“Supermodified Sim Racing for the Right Reasons” since 2004
December 14, 2019 – Goshen, IN…The last Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), race of the decade is the Sixteenth Christmas Special, and for the fourth time in as many years, the popular supermodified sim racing event is moving to a new track.
Pantucky is the Place
After holding a successful non-wing supermodified race at Pantucky Speedway back in July of this year, SUPRS officials booked this winged supermodified event. Pantucky is a flat, 3/8ths track with wide corners and narrow, drag strip-like straights. Like the non-wing race, the Christmas Special will also be an rFactor event.
Since that race in July, a lot of work has been done to the track that was originally built for NASCAR Heat. Some of the items include, a new Victory Lane, many new advertising billboards, a refurbished pit concession stand, new pit area scales and pit shack amenities.
One of the biggest projects was clearing the old train trestle that ran outside the track on the backstretch that seemed to run to nowhere, and adding water barrels and tire barriers to the infield light poles and all blunt-end walls, not to mention the moving of all safety vehicles to more secure and safe areas of the infield. Thanks to SUPRS member Nelson Rodrigues, the racers will compete on a track that is a lot more visually pleasing, more realistic, and has fewer hazards to contend with.
Christmas Gift for Winner
As has been the case since the beginning of the race in 2004, the driver that crosses the finish line first after 25 laps will take home a Burgers’ Smokehouse Christmas Ham for his accomplishment.
The fine folks at Burgers’ Ozark Country Hams have been providing simple traditions since 1952 when they built their first “ham house” on their farm in Missouri.
With complete attention to quality and customer service, this family owned company continues to do things the old-fashioned way taking great care in the time-honored traditions of curing, aging, and smoking superior quality products.
Last year Keith Powell broke Rob Warren’s four-year win streak at the Christmas Special, and was able to enjoy the delicious smoked ham with his family on Christmas. Powell was the 12th different winner in 15 previous contests.
Christmas Special Time is Here
This SUPRS race is the last show before a two week break in the action to allow all members a chance to spend time with their families during the holiday break, so you won’t want to miss any of the Christmas Special action and you can see it all with SUPRS LIVE!
Track your favorite SUPRS racer with timing, scoring, instant track telemetry, and live streaming video via the SUPRS LIVE! page. Join the Discord chat while you watch the stream and tell us if you’ve been naughty or nice.
The Sixteenth Christmas Special features a full format including time trials, the six lap Reindeer Dash for the Fast 4 qualifiers, and Heat Races. The racing concludes with the short 25 lap sprint to the checkered flag in the feature race at SUPRS Pantucky Speedway.
Hot laps start at 8:15pm ET. Time Trials at 8:45pm after the drivers meeting. The SUPRS LIVE! broadcast hits the airwaves at 9:00pm and racing action begins at 9:05pm ET.
