Orlando, FL – February 24, 2014….Carl Becker came out of the box swinging for the start of the 2014 SUPRS Florida Speedweeks swing at Orlando Speedway and grabbed the win in a finish where Bob Gangwer and Ray Sand, Jr. completed the top three.

“I think I can finally breath since I think I held my breath for the last 45 laps,” said Becker. ” The Lansing, MI racer was visibly exhausted after standing on the gas and getting up on top of the wheel for the entire distance saying,  “It was a lot of fun. I’m a little winded but it was a lot of fun.”

Carl Becker crosses the line at Orlando Speedworld to win the first race of the 2014 SUPRS Florida Speedweeks

Carl Becker won a fast and furious run at Orlando Speedworld to kick of the 2014 SUPRS Speedweeks.

“If you’re out in front on this track, and I’ve got an idea it will be the same at New Smyrna, it will be the same way because we all so even and it’s hard to pass here,” he explained.

The entire race was over in a blink of an eye and the top three finished within three tenths of a second of one another with Becker taking the lead from Kevin Timmins on lap 5 and leading the rest of the way.

Early in the night Ray Sand, Jr. broke the six year old one lap track record set by Jamie Hartley in February of 2008 when he clicked off a lap of 11.582 seconds. “That was an awesome lap, I’m pretty happy with that,” said Sand, Jr.

The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series now moves just down the road to Black Creek Raceway for night two of the 2014 SUPRS Florida Speedweeks Swing for a 25 lap affair at the big 3/4 mile.
