Bevy of Bonus Points Available for Wing Side Up Twin 25s at Bristol Motor Speedway
November 29, 2020– Goshen, IN…The bold, brazen, and brave drivers of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), are back in action at the 17th Annual Wing Side Up Twin 25s on Decemeber 1 at Bristol Motor Speedway for a double dose of daring, and a bevy of bonus points up for grabs.
Two Times the Risks & Rewards
From the time the drivers hit the track for Time Trials in their winged supermodifieds, to crossing the stripe for the non-wing supermodified feature, there’s twice the amount of risks and double the rewards if they can survive the torrid pace, and potential for crashing on the high-speed half-mile.
Not only are regular points awarded for time trials and feature finishes, along with standard bonus points for Fast Time, Lap Led, and potentially a New Track Record, but this format also includes special bonuses for both features. The SUPRS Charger, (10 points to the driver that advances the most places from starting place), SUPRS Challenge, (20 points to a driver that starts last and wins), and Double Down, (25 bonus points if a driver wins both features), are all up for grabs making it one of the most scintillating supermodified sim races you can find!
To expand on the points implications a little more, consider that the top five in SUPRS Championship points are seperated by just 111 points. With the potential for any driver to claim up to 99 points in the first race alone, (5 show points, 12 points for P1 in qualifying, 1 point for setting fast time, 1 point for leading a lap and 80 points for a race win), you can see why there’s a lot of nail-biting and nerve wracking anxiety leading up to this event.
Unique, Fast Format
The Wing Side Up Twin 25s feature a format that is unique in all of sim racing with two fast 25 lap features. The drivers will race their wing and non-winged supermodifieds on the same night and will utilize the rFactor sim racing platform to do so.
The racers strap into their wing supermodifieds for Time Trials where teh Elite 8 are locked into the first feature and everyone else has to make it out of a 10 lap Heat Race. The Elite 8 are lined up by handicaps in the first four rows, with the Heat Race finishers falling in behind to set the grid for first Twin 25 lap feature.
Then, after driving a car with a lot of downforce during the day time, they’ll strap into their low downforce non-wing supermodifieds, use a random draw for starting place, and go hammer down for the second 25 feature at night on a track known to eat race cars and fray driver’s nerves.
