Bounty Placed on Callahan’s Head After Xtreme Tuesday Win
Stafford, CT – April 8, 2014… Steve Callahan was once again sitting in Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series victory lane after winning Xtreme Tuesday at Stafford Motor Speedway.
“Now I know what Myles and Ray and John feel like when they win so often,” said Callahan. “This is just crazy. I can’t believe all the good luck I’ve had getting a front row starting spot and then being able to seal the deal so I’m just going to enjoy it because I know it’s not going to happen too often, especially to me.”
The pressure is now on Callahan to continue his winning streak to avoid losing Championship points. Any driver that breaks Callahan’s win streak will take 10 Championship points from Callahan and add the points to their own tally. As long as he keeps winning, Callahan will collect five extra Championship points for each win and five points will be added to the “Bounty” on his head for someone else to claim.
Myles Maxon hounded Callahan for the entire 50 lap distance of the race and finished in second once again. Earlier in the evening, the Oswego, NY racer set a New Track Record of 15.095 in the Ed Riley owned US Air Force sponsored number 88 supermodified. He also set the fastest lap of the race for the third week in a row.
“First of all congratulations to Steve, this is a real accomplishment and is something that hasn’t been done more than a handful of times that I can remember,” said the 2007 SUPRS Champion.
While he was quick to give accolades to Callahan, Maxon wasn’t about to hand the win to him and was relentless in his attempts to get by the winner. He said, “I don’t know if there was anything I could have done different to get by him. This is a hard place to pass and everytime I got in the throttle to get by him, he was already into the throttle and pulling me.”

The SUPRS racers go from a quick sprint at Stafford’s 1/2 mile to the grueling grind of the SUPRS All-Star Classic 200 at the tight 1/4 mile of Star Speedway for the second of two races in one week.
Ray Sand, Jr. is the defending winner of the event which is now in it’s fourth consecutive year and features only the top eight qualifiers and the top two finishers of the B-Main. Practice begins at 8:00pm with Time Trials going off at 8:30pm and Racing starting at 8:45pm.
