SUPRS Sails into Salem for Special Sunday Night Show

Share SUPRS:

Goshen, IN – April 14, 2018…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), rolls through the Hoosier State for the next two weeks as they finish out their 2018 Indyana Supermod Challenge series. Their first stop is a special Sunday night show on April 15, 2018 at the famed Salem Speedway.

Last Salem Show was in 2015

The 30 lap non-wing supermodified feature is the first time since 2015 that the drivers will battle each other on the ultra-fast high-banks of Salem. Steve Callahan was the winner in that 75 lap feature that also featured winged supermodified racing on the same night. The winged part of the night was won by Dave Brigandi.

Exciting Race in 2014

Prior to that SUPRS held a non-wing race at Salem on July 7, 2014 when Sand, Jr. won the opening salvo of the  three-night Indiana Supermod Week, which also included shows at LaPorte Speedway and Indianapolis Raceway Park.  In that particular race, an exciting battle among the top four of  Sand, Jr., Rob Warren, Myles Maxon, and Steve Callahan developed almost immediately from the drop of the green flag. In a thrilling wheel to wheel, nerf bar to nerf bar contest of skill, it was anyone’s guess what driver was going to come out on top at the end of 50 laps, but it was Sand, Jr. who picked up his second  non-wing Salem win in a row.

Callahan Successful at Salem

Callahan also has a win at Salem in his non-wing supermodified in what is thought to be the very first time SUPRS ran at Salem Speedway in what was called the Indyana Supermod Classic on August 11, 2010. In fact, Callahan is so good at Salem, he’s finished out of the top five just twice in six races run there under the SUPRS sanction.

Bet on Becker on Banks

Carl Becker has had his fair share of success on the banks of this southern Indiana institution as well, taking his Dowker Titanium Roadster to a wing supermodified win on November 12, 2013. The Lansing, MI veteran has two other top five finishes in his winged supermodified and two in his non-wing car as well.

Hurryin’ Hoosier Happenings

Practice for the SUPRS Hurryin’ Hoosier 30 begins at 8:15pm. A 15 minute Drivers Meeting takes place in TeamSpeak  prior to the drivers taking to the track for Time Trials at 8:45pm. After that, two 10 lap Heat Races are scheduled to go off at 9:06pm.

The feature inversion dice roll follows the heats with the Green flag for the feature event at Salem Speedway expected to drop after driver introduction at about 9:30pm.

All-Star Classic 200 is First Race of SUPRS Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing

April 8, 2018 – Manchester, NH…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), kicks off the prestigious Supermodified Sim Racing Triple Crown with the 8th Annual SUPRS All-Star Classic 200 April 10, 2018 at the famed Star Speedway in Epping, NH

Hey now you’re an All-Star…as long as you use BreezeGraphics.com like SUPRS does!

Race Modeled after Real Event

The race is modeled after the real Star Classic held annually at the quarter-mile paved oval track built by Charlie Elliot and now promoted by Bobby Webber, Jr.  The popular supermodified race features the International Supermodified Association and has been a mainstay of the supermodified “Triple Crown” that also includes the Oswego Speedway International Classic 200, and the Sandusky Speedway Supermodified Nationals 100.

First Race of Supermodified Sim Racing Triple Crown

SUPRS Triple Crown presented by Icings on Top graphic

The SUPRS Triple Crown presented by Icings on Top has only been won twice.

The SUPRS All-Star Classic 200 is not only an important stand-alone show, but it’s also the first leg one of the 2018  SUPRS Triple Crown presented by Icings on Top. Similar to the real supermodified Triple Crown, it is composed of three different marquee events that includes the aforementioned All-Star Classic 200, the Season Summit 125 held at Madera Speedway, and the non-wing supermodified Topless! 200 at Oswego Speedway.

Many consider winning just one of these events a noteworthy accomplishment, but scoring all three is a true mark of a supermodified sim racer. That being said, only two drivers have accomplished the feat, that being Ray Sand, Jr. and Rob Warren.

Sand, Jr. Super at Star

Of the previous seven All-Star Classic 200 races run, Ray Sand, Jr. has won three of them including the very first one contested in 2011. That win propelled him to the first SUPRS Triple Crown that same year. Keith Powell and Rob Warren each have seen victory lane after the grueling 200 laps as well, but only Steve Callahan comes close to Sand, Jr.’s accomplishment. Callahan went back to back for his two wins in 2015 and 2016 using the NASCAR Heat gaming platform.

Stamina at Star

Only 12 drivers make the show, and coupled with the fact that racing is contested within the confines of Star Speedway’s quarter-mile, there’s heavy traffic almost from the drop of the green, the track tends to get slick as the race wears on and drivers become fatigued turning 10 second laps, you can bet that this is one of the toughest races on the SUPRS schedule.

This 200 lap thriller is a show where the drivers never rest and even though cautions count toward the 200 lap total, the show generally takes nearly 45 minutes to run. So it will be important for drivers to have plenty of stamina if they want to make it to the finish.

A blind draw for the Elite 8 takes place prior to the running of the 20 lap B-Main at 8:06. The Green flag for the 8th Annual SUPRS All-Star Classic 200 drops after pre-race festivities and driver introduction at about 9:30pm.

SUPRS Heads to Thompson for New England 50

New England 50 is First SUPRS Race at Famed Thompson International Speedway

April 3, 2018 – Riverton, CT…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS) heads to Thompson International Speedway Tuesday, April 3, 2018 for the New England 50 and it’s the first time the 14-year-old supermodified sim racing sanction has ever held a race at this famous CT speedplant.

New Venue Part of Re-Imagined Event

In 2017, the always popular “Xtreme Tuesday” went through a name change and became the “New England 50.” The original event was modeled after the International Supermodified Association, (ISMA), race of the same name but when ISMA stopped running this show on an annual basis, SUPRS came up with a new idea.

With so many fantastic and historical tracks in New England and available to run in both NASCAR Heat and rFactor, the sanction decided to rotate the event throughout these East Coast ovals on an annual basis. Because of the history of supermodified racing at Thompson, SUPRS is also able to stay true to their Mission Statement of exposing supermodified racing to the general online sim racing community while promoting real supermodified sanctions and tracks.

Keystone Nationals Three Night PA Swing

Share SUPRS:

Goshen, IN – March 26, 2018… Last week the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), finished up their extended “Winter Western Swing” and are now ready to run the 13th Annual Keystone Nationals featuring the Randy Witkum Memorial beginning Tuesday March 27.

Three Distinct Tracks, Two Gaming Platforms

This multi-race swing through the state of Pennsylvania challenges the SUPRS racers over the course of three nights on three very distinctive race tracks, including a uniquely shaped one-mile track that has multiple elevation changes. For the second year in a row, the SUPRS members will be racing with the rFactor and NASCAR Heat platforms.

RT 93 Site of Keystone Nationals Opener

For the second year in a row, the first race is at RT 93 Raceway which is a half-mile, but certainly not an oval. Many SUPRS racers compare it to the legendary and now defunct Flemington Speedway and while being somewhat square, say that the fast way around is to run a near perfect circle. They’ll be doing that for 5o laps and trying not to get too dizzy.

Nazareth Presents Different Challenges

After a successful, and entertaining début for SUPRS last year, the popular Nazareth Speedway returns for night two of the Keystone Nationals and brings an added challenge. This one mile oddly shaped track has various elevation changes, a few distinctive bumps, banking that varies from 2.7° and 6.0°, and has what many consider one of the trickiest dog legs and turn one corners of the season.

Consistency and a smooth, fast approach through the dogleg is what drivers will be striving for if they want to be in Nazareth victory lane after 25 rFactor supermodified sim racing feature laps.

14th Annual Randy Witkum Memorial Closes Keystone

Finally, on Thursday evening, the Keystone Nationals will culminate with a race that is one of the longest running in SUPRS history; The Randy Witkum Memorial. It will be the 14th time SUPRS has run this 125 lap grind at the famed Jennerstown Speedway racing to honor the memory of the late Randy Witkum.

Witkum was a young supermodified racer, and part of an iconic supermodified racing family who tragically lost his life while participating in an International Supermodified Association heat race event at Jennerstown in 1999. The winner of the race gains a “Guaranteed Starter” award for the 14th Annual Summit Classic 125 in May.

All Three Nights Shown Live

For the first time in Keystone Nationals history all three nights of racing are going to be shown via SUPRS LIVE! Beginning with the first race at RT 93 through Nazareth on night two and the Randy Witkum Memorial fans can expect to see plenty of supermodified sim racing action. Featuring Live Timing, Scoring, Track Telemetry and Streaming Video, SUPRS LIVE! is the perfect page on the web to cheer on your favorite SUPRS racer.

Race Schedule

Practice begins at 8:15pm on the first two night. Then Heats, and Feature follow after 9:00pm. On Thursday, things get rolling a little sooner due to the length of the race. Practice starts at 7:45pm and the racing begins at 8:35pm with the Heat Races.
