Second of Five Race Empire State Super Series Regional Tour is Blind Date

January 21, 2018 – Goshen, IN…The second race of the year-long Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 2017-18 Empire State Super Series, (ESS), Regional Tour is a Blind Date night. And like a real blind date, the drivers don’t know exactly what to expect.

Tradition of Blind Date Night Goes Way Back

The SUPRS Blind Date Night has been a tradition since the very start of the oldest supermodified sim racing sanction when it ran four races in one night on New Year’s Eve. Those races were known as the New Year’s Eve 4-n-1 Bash.

2017-18 ESS Format

After the SUPRS Members decided they’d rather spend time with their family and friends on New Year’s Eve, drawing one out of a three potential tracks continued on for the ESS Tour and the tradition continued.

Long ESS Season

The ESS season is generally composed of anywhere between three to six races and run over the course of one year and two SUPRS Gold Crest Seasons. Each race uses the same format of Time Trials, handicapped Heat Races and an inverted start for the Feature.

The tour includes only those tracks in the state of New York and, since 2015, a mixture of NASCAR Heat and rFactor gaming platforms.

Three Former ESS Champs Expected

Defending ESS Champion Rob Warren, and 2013-14 ESS Champ Steve Callahan sit first and second in the current ESS points with 2015-16 ESS Champion Bob Gangwer fourth behind Kyle Clark. All four drivers should be racing Tuesday as they are also in the top five of the 2017-18 SUPRS Gold Crest Championship point standings

Powell Looking for New York Love

SUPRS most recent feature winner Keith Powell of Ohio has never won an ESS Tour feature. He is second in Gold Crest Championship points and would love nothing more than to avenge his loss in the first ESS show of the season.

CURRENT ESS POINTS

At that race, (the Christmas Special at Airborne Speedway in December), Powell led the race from the drop of the green flag until contact with Rob Warren on the white flag lap put him out of contention for the win.

Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby First Race of 2018

After 2-Week Break, SUPRS Returns to Action January 2, 2018

December 15, 2017 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), resumes racing after a two-week Christmas break with the 14th Annual Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby and Can-Am Challenge on January 2, 2018 at Mosport Speedway. This zany, wild and crazy supermodified sim race is always unpredictable, never boring, and more fun than you can throw a snowball at.

SUPRS 2018 Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby Poster

Crazy Format

The Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby has the craziest format of the wing season. The SUPRS racers have to Time Trial, run a heat, qualify into a “Canadian Pursuit” as they race against each other and with a teammate.

The slowest driver from time-trials matches up with the fastest from time trials, the second fastest and the second slowest, and so on, to form the Snowball Derby Challenge teams.

Challenge Rewards Best Team Total

Each team member goes through the night trying to gain the most points possible . At the end of the night, the two-man team with the most combined points gets the overall Snowball Derby Challenge Championship bonus of 10 extra points to each driver.

Could Be a New Winner

Of the drivers sitting in the top five of the SUPRS 2017-18 Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Championship, only one, the current point leader, Rob Warren has won the Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby. Warren has the most feature wins this season so far, (five), and is hoping to win his third SUPRS feature in a row. With Jeff Weber being the only other active driver besides Warren that is a former winner of this race, it’s a distinct possibility that a new Crazy Canuck winner will emerge at the end of the night.

Watch the Snowballs Fly

The SUPRS  14th Annual Crazy Canuck Snowball Derby and Can-Am Challenge takes place on January 3, 2017  at Mosport Speedway and fans can see all the craziness with SUPRS LIVE!
