Action Packed Mr. Online Supermodified
Two-Day Event Will Crown 8th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified
Goshen, IN – July 26, 2015…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), will join with Xtreme Short Track Sim Racing, (XSTSR), to bring sim supermodified racers the two-day Mr. Online Supermodified spectacular this week on July 27, 28.
The 8th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified will be part of the six race 2015 Xtreme SUPRS Challenge Championship which is a joint venture between the two online sanctions and has its own point system and championship. Art Palmer, Brian Strickland, and Chris Meyers are tied at the top with 73 points each after the first three races. Ray Sand, Jr. is less than ten points out of the lead with 65 and Tyler Perry is within striking distance at 64 marks.
The first race of this special event takes place on Monday, July 27 on the Xtreme Short Track Sim Racing server using the Gott 2015 Wing Supermodified on the JCR version of Oswego Speedway. Then the very next night on Tuesday, July 28 the action will move to the SUPRS Race Server for non-wing supermodified racing using the SUPRS NW V1 rFactor mod and the SUPRS Oswego Speedway track.
Both feature races will be 75 laps in length and points will be kept for time trials, heat races, and the feature races to decide the 8th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified.
To win the coveted 8th Annual Mr. Online Supermodified Cup sponsored by 1st to Finish Docks & Hoists, a driver will need to be consistent, fast and use all their “super powers” throughout the two-day event using both wing and non-wing rFactor supermodifieds, racing on two different versions of Oswego Speedway.

Mr. Online Supermodified History and Contenders
Kris Heveron of Jensen Beach, FL won the first two Mr. Online Supermodified races and at that time in 2008 and 2009, they were 100 lap affairs with a 25 lap shootout. Last year, current SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship point leader, Ray Sand, Jr., held off Myles Maxon to claim his first Mr. Online Supermodified. With points in all three series for 2015, (SUPRS, XSTSR, XSCC), Sand, Jr. will certainly be a threat to win his second crown in a row. If he does he will join Heveron and Bob Gangwer as previous back to back winners.
Sand, Jr. will have his work cut out for him from fellow SUPRS and XSTSR competitors including Dave Soja, the most recent winner on the XSTSR circuit. Soja’s best finish in the Mr. Online Supermodified race was third in 2008. Soja now sits in sixth place in XSTSR points and eighth in both SUPRS and XSCC points.
Rob Warren is a former Mr. Online Supermodified and only eight points behind Sand, Jr. in the SUPRS standings. Warren will look to improve on his 12th place in XSCC points. Warren has not yet put any points on the XSTSR board.
Another former Mr. Online Supermodified, Keith Powell, may not have any points with Xtreme or the Xtreme SUPRS Challenge Championship, but has moved to within striking distance of the SUPRS points lead only 18 behind Sand, Jr.
His teammate “Steady” Steve Callahan has never been Mr. Online Supermodified, but will use this two-day event to chip away at the points keeping him from his first SUPRS championship. Callahan also has his eye on the XSCC title where he now hangs onto sixth place with a deficit of only 11 points to first overall.
At the top of the XSCC heap are Art Palmer, Brian Strickland, and Chris Meyers with all of them being tied for first in the standings. Palmer and Meyers have scored points in all three championships, while Strickland has yet to race with SUPRS even though he is registered. There’s no question that these three have an on-track rivalry as intense as their off-track friendship.
Stickland and Palmer, in particular, have battled mightily on the XSTSR circuit. Strickland leads the XSTSR standings and won the spring championship for wing supermodifieds.
The soft-spoken, but hard charging Palmer won the non-wing XSTSR championship, finished second to Strickland in the spring championship and trails Strickland in the current summer wing sim supermodified championship at XSTSR by just a tick less than 100 points. Palmer is riding around in eleventh place in the SUPRS championship.
“Crazy” Chris Meyers certainly has the best finishing record when it comes to the Mr. Online Supermodified race, never finishing worse than tenth. Meyers only recently lost the SUPRS championship lead and fell in the Xtreme standings when his online race rig went up in smoke. Meyers makes no friends on the sim racetrack and if he can get his rig fixed would love nothing more than to be called Mr. Online Supermodified regardless of friendships outside of the sim world.
Not to be counted out is Dan Shupe and Perry Vance. Both have points in all three championships with Shupe looking the best overall sitting in the top ten for both the Xtreme SUPRS Challenge Championship and XSTSR and in thirteenth with SUPRS. Vance meanwhile has consistently improved across the board and rides in 15th with SUPRS and XSCC and 16th in XSTSR. Both drivers are a threat to win no matter what type of sim supermodified they race.

Double Points on the Line for SUPRS Mid-Season Championship
Make or Break Time for Many in Championship Points Battle
July 12, 2015 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series will resume their 11th Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship presented by 1st to Finish Docks & Hoists on Tuesday July 14 at Oswego Speedway online. On tap is the Mid-Season Championship highlighted by Twin 35 lap features that will each pay double points.
With the extra points, regular bonuses on the line and special bonus points for being deemed Mid-Season Champion, this race has traditionally been one that produces a drastic shake-up in the point standings.
This season SUPRS will crown their Mid-Season Champion with Twin 35 lap feature races at Oswego Speedway in a format identical to the Gold Crest Wing Season where the top eight finishers of the first feature will be eligible for the handicap of the second, and consistency over the course of all the night’s events will pay huge rewards.
However, Meyers will have to keep his guard up against perennial SUPRS Champion, Ray Sand, Jr. While “The Sandman” has struggled the last two races coming home with two fifth place finishes, he won the first two races of the 2015 season and with a total of eight Mid-Season Championships, (counting the Gold Crest Wing season as well), he may be considered the favorite to grab the double points for winning as well as the bonus points for being crowned Mid-Season Champion. Sand, Jr. only recently lost the point lead to Meyers after a controversial finish at the 1st to Finish Docks & Hoists IrRegular 45 two weeks ago, but still hangs onto second place in the championship overall.
If Sand, Jr. is able to pull off his third Non-Wing Mid-Season Championship, he would become the first SUPRS racer to do so. As of now he is tied with John Davidson (2006, 2010 Non-Wing Mid-Season Champion), and Kris Heveron ( 2007-08 Non-Wing Mid-Season Champion), for most wins in this important event. Jim Crannell (2005), Devin Gee (2009), and Domenic Gioia (2014), and Steve Callahan (2015) are the only other racers to have scored Mid-Season Championships for the Non-Wing season. There was no race held in 2013.
For Meyers and Sand, Jr. the main challenge to padding their point tally will most likely come in the form of “The Rabbit” Joe Achzet as he the only other driver to put a check mark in the win column this season and even though still out of the top five in points, jumped two positions in the standings just prior to the summer break SUPRS is coming out of.
Achzet is one of the drivers from third to eighth in the standings with the most to gain, or loose depending on how one looks at it, separated by just 100 points total. Keith Powell Rob Warren, Steve Callahan, Dave Soja and Bob Gangwer will all be looking to hold on to what they have as well as claw their way up the points ladder.
Potential spoilers could be SUPRS newcomers Dave and Perry Vance and online sim racing veteran Art Palmer. Perry Vance in particular has been the model of consistency so far this season, often times having been involved in incidents not of his doing but bringing home a battered sim supermodified for a top ten finish.
The SUPRS Mid-Season Championship at Oswego Speedway gets underway July 14, 2015 with official practice starting at 8:00 pm. The green flag will drop for racing at 9:00pm.
