Dave Ohh Doubles Up at IRP, Rob Warren Wins Indyana Supermod Challenge Regional Series Championship

March 10, 2020 – Clermont, IN…Another SUPRS double-header turned into another double win for Dave Ohh at the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Indyana Supermod Challenge at Indianapolis Raceway Park March 10. While Ohh was busy winning both the wing and non-wing supermodified sim racing features and sweeping up nearly all available bonus points, Rob Warren quietly put together two good finishes which was enough to claim the overall Indyana Supermod Challenge Regional Series Championship. The 10 bonus points Warren received for the accomplishment over the course of the three race series, puts him one step closer to his eighth overall SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Championship.

Like the Track

Compared to many of the SUPRS competitors, Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh doesn’t have as much experience at Indianapolis Raceway Park, but that didn’t keep him from liking the track. “I do like it, it’s a nice track,” he said. “I like it more in the non-wing than the wing because you have to drive it, because it’s not as “sticky” as the wing.”

Not as Easy as it Looked

When told about sweeping the night by taking both SUPRS Charger awards, setting fastest lap in both features and leading the most laps in both features, and as easy as he made it look, Ohh still acknowledged that it wasn’t a cake walk at IRP. “It was a battle tonight,” he admitted. “I think that makes three in a row that I started at the back or near the back, and it’s always a challenge when you have fast cars like we do here.

I had some time to get it done, but had to patiently work my way up through. I tried to force some guys to make some mistakes by riding on their rear nerf bar in the wing race.”

Steering Clear Leads to Domination

Ohh was even more impressive in the non-wing feature which took three tries before the race finally got the green, then was immediately slowed by a big crash in turn two that involved half the field. By using a great amount of skill to navigate the spinning race cars, Ohh kept his car in one piece and came out of the mayhem in second behind Rob Warren before five laps were complete.

A rough start, but then a non-stop race in the non-wing feature for the Indyana Supermodified Challenge.

“I got lucky in the non-wing race, missing the mayhem at the start,” he stated. “Except for when I decided to drive it in the grass, I had a really good car. I’m not sure why I thought that was necessary, but at least I gathered it up and i was able to get back on the track in front of Rob.”

Warren Takes Third Indyana Championship

Rob Warren used consistent finishes at IRP to seal his third Indyana Supermod Challenge Regional Series Championship which ties him with Ray Sand, Jr. for the second most.

“To be a three-time Indyana Supermod Challenge Champion is pretty awesome,” he said. “It was a good night for points for me, not so much for the other guys and I can sympathize with them on that. We just keep moving forward trying to catch up to the dang #11 car.”

Warren will receive a five-pound bag of Yoder’s Award Winning Indiana Pop-Corn and a trophy courtesy of WAG’s Custom & Cool Awards.
