Starting this topic to help make some sense of how best to deal with Windows 10 and the issues it causes with rFactor and NASCAR Heat and other sim racing platforms.
Post your personal experiences. Be as detailed as you want and let's start compiling a database of links and best practices.
This problem is going to get worse before it gets better.

From one of our followers, (boxthislap), on our Instagram account came this good article about Windows 10 and Logitech G27 not working after updates.
Microsoft has been releasing these last days a troublesome update for some of simracers using a G27/G25 Logitech steering wheel.
Logitech Gaming software updates to 8.83.85 version and this causes G27 being recognized as Driving Force wheel without clutch or degrees to be configured.Jacob Klein (and a friend of mine) experienced and solve it with the following procedure:
- On 5/21/2016, Windows 10 offered “Logitech – Other hardware – Logitech Download Assistant”, which was auto-installed.
- I believe it upgraded my Logitech Gaming Software from v8.82.151 to v8.83.85
- It also messed up my G27 installation, as both (Logitech Profiler) and (Control Panel -> Set up USB game controllers -> Properties) showed my wheel as a Logitech Driving Force PS2 wheel.
I fixed it by:
- Opening “Programs and Features”
- Uninstalling my install of “Logitech Gaming Software 5.10” and v8.83.85
- Reinstalling “Logitech Gaming Software 5.10”
So, then end result is back where I began: “Programs and Features” correctly shows both:
-
“Logitech Gaming Software 5.10” (for my G27 wheel)

Windows 10 Updates!!!
Following the sudden, unannounced restart of the race server, which is Windows 10, on 2017 June 13, at 8PM, I did a little research. To avoid unintentional restarts, set Active Hours in Windows Security and Update settings. I originally interpreted this as set what time I want the Updates to be active. Completely wrong. Set the time you are active on your PC, so that it will not restart unexpectedly.
To do this, simply Right Click on the Windows Start Button, and choose settings. You can use the windows key on your keyboard and the I key also to get there, or do what I do and type Update in Cortana.
When Windows Settings is open, Click on the Update and Security Link.
From here you can check for updates, if you want to do a preemptive strike, which I had done Sunday on all of my machines (server, and 6 Windows 10 devices in the garage) however there were big updates released Tuesday...
More importantly, under Update Settings, click on Change Active Hours. I set the server for 5PM and midnight, and plan to do that on all of my racing rigs and Handley App laptops.
I hope this helps the server and everyone gaming with Windows 10.

As we all know, W10 is a real P.I.T.A. because in Microsoft's infinite wisdom it's better to do all the work for a customer than it is to allow the customer to choose when and what to update because it makes it easier for Microsoft to mine your personal data.
Here's a VERY good video on how to circumvent some of the BS, the bloatware, the auto updates and the pain of having to use Windows 10.
As some of you know after reading the latest edition of SUPRS Weekly, Microsoft is rolling out a pretty large update to Windows 10. As usual, it can play havoc with your race rig. Here's some helpful links on what you can do to minimize the pain.

Microsoft is as it again. They are changing the frequency of their "Feature" updates and the naming convention of each update. Most of you are probably on the 2004 version by now and will be getting an update to 20H2 soon.
Here's some more details on what this update has and why they are changing their feature frequency and naming conventions, (i think someone is just bored at Microsoft and needs to justify their job, but hey...you all know how much I HATE Win10!).
