Hey guys,
We have found an issue with newer ISP supplied products. As service providers continue to deliver faster and faster speeds, some of their hardware just is not equipped to connect to the servers in any consistent way. We have just spent about a week with an incredibly frustrated member who upgraded his network, has tremendous connection speeds, yet has difficulty establishing and maintaining connection with TeamSpeak and rFactor. Oddly enough, he was able to connect to our oldest platform, NASCAR Heat, with nothing more than a little bit of ghosting.
After chatting with a buddy of mine that is a sub contractor for Spektrum, the company that bought Time Warner in our area, we narrowed in on the problem. The Technicolor Brand cable modem supplied was the connection issue all along. Our member dropped off the modem, and picked up an Aris brand cable modem from the ISP, in about half an hour or so, he had his new modem installed, and his 2.4G and 5G network settings updated. Connection to TS3 was flawless and had no difficulties connecting to the rFactor server.
Moral of this story is, the Technicolor brand modem, in this case, was the culprit. I am glad that our member was patient as we diagnosed issues, through TeamViewer, texts and phone calls. If you seem to experience connection issues, it is always best practice to unplug your modem, Time Warner suggested up to 10 minutes, and then let the unit reboot. If you have consistent connection issues, a call to your ISP may be in order. Last resort, check your hardware.
See you on the track!
Rob
