Bob Gangwer Wins Second Round of SUPRS Keystone Nationals at RT 93 Raceway
Slusser, PA – March 10, 2015…It was twice as nice for Bob Gangwer after he was victorious for the second night in a row during Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series. Gangwer won on night two of the 2015 10th Annual Keystone Nationals at RT 93 Raceway Tuesday evening. Ray Sand, Jr. and Rob Warren completed the top three.
Gangwer took the Wing Side Up, Ricky’s Sideline Shots roadster to the point on lap 12 with a bold outside pass on Rob Warren and went on to stretch the lead to over two seconds at the end of the race.
“Let me tell ya, I’ve run a million laps here and I’ve never had a car this good and I’ve never finished well, let alone won a race here, so this is just very cool,” said Gangwer.
Ray Sand, Jr., the winner of last year’s race here at RT 93, quickly sliced his way through the pack but had nothing for Gangwer. He said, “Bob had us all covered tonight and no matter how much I tried I had nothing for him. This is such a tough joint with a great bunch of fast guys so I’m happy with second tonight.”
Rob Warren’s third place finish was not without controversy. Warren starting on the outside front row, shot to the early lead and held it for the first 12 laps. That lead however, was something pole-sitter Carl Becker was not too pleased with and he let Warren know after the race. Warren replied, “I’m sorry Carl feels that way. I went when I thought we should go and where I’d been going all night so I’m not sure why he’s so mad, but I’ll say something to him. Hopefully we can work it out because Carl’s a friend a great guy.”
The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series Keystone Nationals finale happens tomorrow evening with the running of the 11th Annual Randy Witkum Memorial 125 at Jennerstown Speedway, a race that Gangwer, Sand, Warren and Steve Callahan have all won. Practice gets underway at 8:00pm with racing slated to go at 9:00pm.
