Second Attempt for Inaugural International Supermodified Association Race at Monadnock Speedway
Carol D Haynes, ISMA PR
June 14, 2018 – Oswego, NY…The much-anticipated ISMA opener at Monadnock Speedway, which was slated for May 19, met with foul weather, which turned out to be the norm in the east in that month. So with two races in the books at Delaware and Lancaster Speedways, the ISMA contingent will try again next Saturday.
Strong car counts presented fans with some great racing at Delaware Speedway in Canada where a first-time career winner was crowned when Kyle Edwards of Bartlett, TN, took the win. As he fought off Canadian Mike Lichty who was trailed by Timmy Jedrzejek, Mike Ordway Jr. and Trent Stephens. Multi-time Delaware winner, Dave Shullick Jr. might have been in the mix also but a rare motor problem found him exiting the Bodnar 95 early in the race.
It was across the border and on to Lancaster Speedway on Saturday with most cars following the pack to the Depew, NY track. It was here that veteran ISMA competitor, Mark Sammut was chasing down leader Michael Muldoon and coming close to a pass, when Muldoon’s car slowed with an electrical problem near race end and Sammut, was in the cat bird’s seat to take the lead. Shullick Jr. found his car back up to speed, although not quite right, as he trailed Sammut under the checkers. Dan Bowes, Chris Perley, who had not been able to make it to Canada, and Moe Lilje were top five in the exciting event.
Now, with several weeks available for repairs and refreshing, the winged warriors will head back into New England for race number three in the season. At this early juncture, Kyle Edwards leads the points trailed by Mark Sammut, Mike Ordway Jr., Timmy Jedrzejek, Dan Bowes, Mike Lichty, Moe Lilje, Trent Stephens, Dave Shullick, Jr., and Michael Muldoon in the top ten.
A competitive contingent should be on hand to vie for the 75 lap feature win, especially with the added $1000 Bentley’s Saloon bonus for a new track record and another $1000, donated by Shea Concrete, for the leader at the halfway mark!
The original schedule of events from May will remain in place with the following divisions running- ISMA SUPERMODIFIEDS, SPORTSMAN MODIFIEDS, SUPER STOCKS, MINI STOCKS, THUNDER STOCKS, LIGHTNING STOCKS, YOUNG GUNS . The program begins at 6:00 pm.
