It’s All Keysor at SUPRSNationals

August 16, 2021 – Oswego, NY…Brad Keysor of Liverpool, NY got the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 17th Annual Topless! 200 Week off to a good start by winning his second SUPRSNationals 50 winged supermodified sim racing feature at Oswego Speedway on Monday night.

After the initial start was called back twice when the front row of Danny Ray and Bobby Hayduk failed to bring the field down to the green in an orderly fashion, Keysor inherited the outside front row starting place next to Ryan Cloonan when the original front row was sent to the tail. Ironically, it’s the same position Keysor started in when he last one SUPRSNationals in 2019. Keysor wasted no time taking the lead by the first corner and ended up winning by a straightaway after leading all 50 laps.

Keysor’s win was enough to seal up the season long 2020-21 Empire State Super Series Regional Tour Championship for the second year in a row.

Bob Gangwer battled with Cloonan in the early stages of the race and was able to pass him, then hang on for second, while Cloonan had his hands full fending off SUPRS veterans Gary Waldron, Keith Powell and Rob Warren along with rookie Anthony Corsoniti. Cloonan eventually got some breathing room and beat Powell to the finish line for third by 3/10ths of a second.

Powell came home fourth with Waldron running one of his best races this season to finish in the top five.

Hammer Down for Go Fast Night

On Tuesday, all focus switches to going as fast as possible with the 17th Annual Topless! 200 Pole Night show.  While everyone will have a shot at the pole position only the top two qualifiers will be locked into the 2021 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship marquee event.

Last year’s pole sitter, Dave Ohh of Union, CT, hasn’t been able to race a lot of times this summer, but he’s expected to defend his pole sitting run of 2020. The former Track Record Holder is a favorite to take the pole again this year and if he does he will be the first driver in SUPRS history to sit on the Topless! pole three years in a row. He would also tie Ray Sand, Jr. for having the most Topless! 200 poles.

To do so, he’ll have to break Brad Keysor’s track record of 15.656. Keysor has been on a tear of late, and in pre-race testing has consistently been in the low 15.6s. Although Keysor has never sat on the pole for the race, he is the defending race winner, so it should be a great shoot out for the top spot.

Both of the favorites will have to fend off the likes of “Rapid” Ryan Cloonan and former Topless! 200 pole sitter and race winner “Rocket” Rob Warren, along with a host of other fast racers hoping to lock down a front row start, including 2016 pole sitter, Keith Powell, and a couple of fast rookies in the form of Anthony Corsoniti and Greg Breen.
