1/31/2005 League Meeting Minutes
1. Discussed Team Speak. League Director Bob Gangwer explained that Team Speak will be a requirement by the Mid Season Championship at Laporte on 2-9. If any league members do not have TS by that date they will not receive points for that race and any race thereafter until they get it. Having all members on TS will continue to propel SUPRS towards it’s goal of being the best online racing sim going. TS WILL NOT be required to be on during race time but only during driver’s meeting, when heats are split, and for post race.
2. League Director Bob Gangwer explained to all members present that there will be no new paint jobs allowed on existing member’s cars after the mid season championship on 2-9. Also all new car text files must begin with ‘9’ unless otherwise specified. It is recommended that drivers choose a two digit number for ease of scoring as well as technical issues with the drivers.txt file.
3. Jim Davidson a.k.a. doc6519 was introduced to the members present as the new SUPRS Recruiting Director. Jim will handle all new members and existing member’s should direct those interested in becoming a member of SUPRS to him.
4. Bob Gangwer explained the new rookie cars. If a driver shows up to race and isn’t signed up as a member by Tues. Midnight, he will be considered a rookie and will be assigned one of the three rookie cars. If he is not signed up by midnight on the tues. before the scheduled race no points will be awarded. If the driver is not present at the driver’s meeting and is not a member of SUPRS he will not be allowed to race. If he is a member of SUPRS and is not present at drivers meeting he will not be awarded any points for the night.
5. Decided that for the Mid-Season Championship 2-9 at Laporte heat races will be set up according to Championship points as opposed to prior weeks finish. Top ten in points will go to heat one with 11-20 going to heat two. Double points will be paid on the FEATURE FINISH OF EACH Race with TT being held for each feature race also. Also there will only be one set of heats to take place before the first feature.
6. Discussed technical issues with Ocala as pertaining to Florida Speedweeks. If Ocala can not be fixed it will be dropped from schedule with Black Creek Raceway taking it’s place on 2-15 for 25 laps or equivalent, and Rebel Raceway taking it’s place on 2-17 for 38 laps or equivalent. Sunrise Speedway has been added to the Speedweeks Schedule for Monday Feb. 14. If the problems at Ocala can be remedied it will remain on the schedule but moved to Sunday Feb. 13th for 38 laps or equivalent. It was also determined that during Speedweeks no heats will be run. There will be two 8 laps practice sessions for Sunrise, Rebel and Ocala and one 13 lap, or equivalent, for USA and Black Creek. TT and Feature will follow.
7. Discussed format for North Carolina Swing 3-9 and 10. Hickory Motor Speedway will be added for 3-11 and will be a 63 lap winner take all shootout for the top ten point earning drivers for the first four races of the swing. This non-points race will have a special award for the winner only to be announced at a later date.
8. New style cars will be available for download by sunday 2-6 on the website. Drivers will be able to choose between srl style car or isma car and zip folders can be kept right in pstm folder. This is a prelude to the new mod that Kevin is working on.
9. A vote was taken on whether or not Chris Nicastro’s suspension should be lifted. The vote tally for the 12 members attending was 7 nays, 1 yay, 4 abstaining. A yay vote was in favor of lifting Nicastro’s suspension with stipulation that he be kept on probation. A nay vote was in favor of continuing the suspension which will be lifted at the beginning of next season. Nicastro will continue to be banned from the league, website, and dedicated server.
10. Discussed plans for a kid’s only race to be held during spring break. AJ Truax suggested a trophy be awarded to the winner. All members concurred and JP Curry volunteered to supply the trophy. The race length and date is TBA.
11. Members were encouraged by Bob Gangwer to seek out race sponsorship for the remaining dates on the schedule. A $5 dollar fee will apply to those wishing to sponsor a SUPRS race with the money going into the general fund. Anyone sponsoring a race will have head billing for the night and will be recognized on Pinner’s BnG Message Board, SuperDave’s Message Board and Curt Kern’s West Coast Supermodified Message Board.
12. AJ Truax and Bob Gangwer as well as Chris Lucas announced plans to run with the DRT editing ASA series started by Mike Jackson as a means to show support for DRT as well as promote SUPRS.
