Jim Shampine Remembered with Supermodified Sim Race at Oswego Speedway

Share SUPRS:

The SUPRS Jim Shampine Memorial honors the “father of the modern supermodified,” Jim Shampine. Shampine tops the list of All-Time Winners at Oswego Speedway with 87 feature victories. “The Pine” was a 7-time track Winner, and won the prestigious Oswego Speedway International Classic 200 three times. Shampine also helped form the International Supermodified Association.

He was an innovator, craftsman, and great race car driver that lost his life during a modified race at Oswego Speedway in 1982. His death was a great loss to not only the supermodified community, but short track racing at large and is still felt today.

The SUPRS 18th Annual Jim Shampine Memorial is the first of three races in the 2023 Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Winnership that will award a “Guaranteed Starter” status for the season ending “Topless! 200” and is one of the most important on the schedule.

Fans can enjoy live streaming video, along with race commentary and up to the second timing and scoring, race track telemetry, and stats via SUPRS LIVE! Visit www.SUPRS.net/site/Live on June 21, 2023 to watch the 18th Annual Jim Shampine Memorial at Oswego Speedway.
