Second Nazareth Speedway Win for Keysor is Second Closest, and Fastest in History of Race

March 2, 2022 – Nazareth, PA…After a thrilling battle of wits, willpower and nerve, Brad Keysor, after taking the lead with just two laps remaining, was able to hold off Dave Ohh to claim the 25 lap feature on the second night of the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 17th Keystone Nationals at Nazareth Speedway. Keysor, who had won here in 2019 as a rookie, came across the line first in the second closest finish in SUPRS history at this track, then crashed his BMK Logistics #3 into the outside wall. Keysor limped his machine back to the front stretch with one wheel and the nose wing missing, but with a big smile on his face.

After winning at Nazareth the last two years in a row, Ohh led the most laps but not the last one, and came home second. Early leader Zach Sears finished third, almost four seconds back in the 25 lap feature that had just one caution and was the fastest race ever run at Nazareth.

Draft Dodging

“First of all, I want to thank 1st to Finish Race Servers, Hairbag Studios, BreezeGraphics.com, Icings on Top, Chasing Cameras and BMK Logistics for letting me do this,” he said. “It was all about draft and getting a really good run.

“Dave knew it was coming, so he let me go. I thought it was a little too early and I knew he was going to set up the draft for the pass.”

Keysor had his eyes set on victory but with the defending Keystone Nationals Champion breathing down his kneck made a slight mistake while coming up to lap Gary Waldron on the last lap. “I washed up a lot , but thankfully I got a little draft from Gary,” he explained. “He tried another run on me, but I had enough. It was a gret race with Dave.”

The winner had to work his way to the front from his eighth place starting spot, and while carving his way to the top saw, and was invovled in, some pretty great supermodified sim racing. “From what I could tell, coming up through the pack, it was mostly good racing, there was a lot of give and take. A lot of side by side and respectful racing out there tonight,” stated Keysor.

Eye on the Keystone Prize

As a SUPRS Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top winner, one could be forgiven to think that Keysor has all the big shows in his victory lane trophy bag, but thats just not the case. “I’m finally in a position to win the Keystone Nationals,” he said. “I’ve never won it, but after tonight I have a chance.”

Early Results

Earlier in the evening Brad Keysor set fast time at 21.510 to become the fastest qualifier. After the Elite 8 inversion, two eight lap heat races were run. The winners were Dave Ohh and Keysor.

Keystone Nationals Wraps Up with Witkum Memorial

Tomorrow the SUPRS racers will gather at Jennerstown Speedway to honor and remember the late Randy Witkum for the third, and last event, of the 17th Annual Keystone Nationals. The 18th Annual Randy Witkum Memorial is a 125 lap supermodified sim race that pays tribute to the driver that lost his life at Jennerstown Speedway in 1999 during an International Supermodified Association, (ISMA), race.

Last year, Dave Ohh made it a perfect three night sweep and lapped the field to win the Randy Witkum Memorial, as well as his second straight Keystone nationals Championship.
