Rookie Brad Keysor, SUPRS Veteran Rob Warren Dominate the Night at Wing Side Up Twin 25s

November 27, 2018 – Bristol, TN…Rookie supermodified sim racer Brad Keysor and SUPRS veteran Rob Warren cleaned house and dominated the night at the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 15th Annual Wing Side Up Twin 25s at Bristol Motor Speedway. For Keysor, it was especially sweet because he won his first SUPRS feature, and was clearly the class of the field in the wing supermodified feature. For Warren, his SUPRS legacy continued to grow after tying the All-Time win record for this race when he won the second feature of the night-the non-wing supermodified 25 lapper.

The two winners dominated all categories of the popular race taking the top two places in time trials, locking down the top two finishing spots in both features, and cleaning up every bonus point for the night.

Brad Keysor won his first SUPRS feature in the wing part of the Wing Side Up Twin 25s while Rob Warren tied John Davidson’s All-Time Wing Side Up Twin 25 win record after taking non-wing win.

Keysor, Warren Stats Don’t Lie

Looking at the stats for the night, it’s clear to see that Keysor and Warren were on a mission to clean house at Bristol Motor Speedway. Sweeping all the bonuses, each led a feature lap, both led the most laps of the feature they won, both set the fastest lap of the feature, (Warren in wing and Keysor in non-wing), and both grabbed the SUPRSCharger award.

Warren also set fast time when he stopped the clock with a 11.610 second lap and Keysor was second quick at 11.652. They were the only drivers in the 11.6 bracket for qualifications.

Quiet Domination for Keysor

Keysor started the first feature on the outside of the second row, and then patiently let the front row of Carl Becker and Nelson Rodrigues sort themselves out before he moved into the lead on lap three. Once out front, he quietly, but quickly built up an insurmountable lead, clicking off laps consistent laps in the 11.8 second range. Keysor led the remaining 22 laps to take the win over Rob Warren and Kyle Clark.

Even amidst all the audio technical difficulties in his post-race interview, Keysor kept his calm and when congratulated for his first win quietly stated, “Oh thank you it was a pleasure.” He then added, “It was a fun race at this track that I’ve practiced at a lot.”

Keysor had a little extra help on race night in the form of his grandfather and former real supermodified racer Mark Letcher who helped with the set-up and was there to cheer the rookie on.

Warren Ties Davidson

With his convincing victory in the non-wing supermodified feature, Rob Warren tied John Davidson for the most career wins in the Wing Side Up Twin 25s at five. Ironically, Warren’s first win in this race came on the same night that Davidson picked up his second in 2010.

Warren led all 25 laps after quickly moving past the front row of Nelson Rodrigues and Carl Becker. He was able to keep up the lead after the two restarts and went on to win by 2.042 second over Brad Keysor and Bob Gangwer.

SUPRS Most Important Race Next

SUPRS resumes action in just one week on December 4 for the prestigious 15th Annual Dion Parish Memorial at Kalamazoo Speedway. This race is one of the longest running in SUPRS history, and certainly the most important as it’s because of Dion Parish, and his untimely death, that SUPRS started the Dion Parish Memorial Benevolent Fund for Supermodfieds to help injured drivers.

Former winners expected to compete include; Bob Gangwer (2004), Keith Powell (2010), Steve Callahan (2011), Carl Becker (2012), and two-time and defending Dion Parish Memorial winner Rob Warren (2015, 2017).

Practice begins at 8:00pm and Racing at 9:05pm from Dion Parish’s home track of Kalamazoo Speedway. The Elite 8 qualifiers are locked into the feature and are eligible for the feature inversion, while everyone else will have to run a Heat Race to get into the show.
