Myles Maxon Opens Empire State Super Series Regional Tour with Win at Linden
Queens, NY – January, 20, 2015…Myles Maxon’s stellar Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series season showed no signs of losing it’s luster after he rolled into victory lane at Linden Speedway after winning the opening salvo of the 2015-15 Empire Super Series Regional Tour.
Myles Maxon took the lead from Rob Warren on lap 27 and went on to win the ESS feature at Linden.
“That was a really good time out there tonight,”said Maxon after the win. “I had a great battle with Joey then Rob, but once I got by Rob I just concentrated on running smooth laps and trying to pull away from the battle behind me.”
Maxon passed leader Rob Warren on lap 27 then pulled away from the field leaving Warren to contend with reigning SUPRS Empire State Super Series Champion Steve Callahan and Bob Gangwer. Ray Sand, Jr. wasn’t far behind and the four racers dueled to the finish of the 50 lap feature race.
Warren, after being passed by Callahan and nearly dropped another spot by Gangwer, clawed his way back into second place. Callahan settled for third with Gangwer and Sand, Jr. close in tow.

Joey Callahan, Carl Becker, and Dave Brigandi completed the finishing order. Callahan and Becker had a close encounter of the wrong kind when Becker suddenly slowed coming out of turn four to take the checkered flag and Callahan, with nowhere to go, slid into the engine of Becker’s Titanium Roadster. After a heated conversation post race, Becker and Callahan agreed to disagree and will look to put the incident behind them. Brigandi, even though finishing a lap down had a good time and said, “Tonight, even though I finished where I did, the car was actually a blast to drive and I had a great time running consistent laps.”
Earlier in the evening Myles Maxon his fourth New Track Record of the season when he stopped the Linden clocks at 14.564 seconds, topping the old mark of 14.572 set by Ray Sand, Jr. in April of 2008. Rob Warren and Joey Callahan picked up heat race wins.
The SUPRS racers will stay in New York for another week to run the Mid-Season Championship at Oswego Speedway which is also part of the Empire State Super Series.
