Bevy of Bonuses, Plethora of Points

There’s plenty of points and a lot of bonuses up for grabs that the Mid-Season Championship at Oswego Speedway. This event can be a make or break show for drivers, as the driver that wins the Mid-Season Championship isn’t necessarily a shoe-in for the Season Champion’s crown. But the driver that accumulates the most points from time-trials through both features is going  to be crowned the Gold Crest Wing Supermodified Mid-Season Champion and it goes a long way towards helping his cause in the season long battle.

Last year’s Mid-Season Champion, Brad Keysor, who is second in points and is coming off a great week that saw him win the Buckeye 50 at Mansfield, and is hoping that a good run this year will be enough to close the gap of 173 points to 2020 SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion Dave Ohh.

Double Points for each feature have many drivers hoping to seize the opportunity to make a jump in the point standings, or gain a little cushion in the close contest found throughout the standings top to bottom.

Other bonus points are available during the night including:

  • SUPRSCharger – both features (10 points paid to the driver that advances the most places from his starting spot)
  • SUPRSChallenge – both features (20 points paid to the driver that starts last and wins the race)
  •  DoubleDown (25 points paid any driver that can sweep the wins for both features)
  • Mid-Season Champion Bonus (15 points. Tally of all points throughout the night)

Second and Third ESS Tour Races

These two races are also part of the 2020-21 Empire State Super Series Regional Tour Championship which is composed of various races throughout the season at tracks in New York.

Back in December, three-time SUPRS Mid-Season wing supermodified champion, Rob Warren won the opening round of the current Empire State Super Series when won a wildly entertaining Blind Date Night at MT Bullring. Warren’s advantage heading into the Mid-Season Championship is that he has won it three times previously in the winged supermodifieds and Warren sits in the top three for all-time wins at Oswego Speedway.

There’s a full night of supermodified sim racing action at SUPRS Mid-Season Championship beginning with Hot Laps at 8:00pm on January 26, 2021. Time Trials to set the Fast 4 and the rest of the field are at 8:30pm with racing scheduled to go at 9:05pm.

About KTimmins77

Supermodified fan for over 30 years. Heard about this MOD and had to give it try! Been doing graphic art and design for along time. Owner of Breezegraphics Supermodified Art. Specializing in Vinyl Stickers and Window Clings. So designing my own paint scheme is right up my alley. :) Looking to enjoy some SUPRS racing and meet some new friends. Picked #77 in honor of "The King of Supermodifieds" Bentley Warren. I'll never forget that ragged old car (former swift 10pins) he used to muscle around The Steel Palace in the 70's.
