Myles Maxon Keeps on Rolling: Wins SUPRSNationals 50 at Oswego Speedway

Oswego, NY – August 20, 2013…The week just keeps getting better for Myles Maxon as he picked up his second win in as many nights in Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series competition. Maxon, of Oswego, NY waged war with Domenic Gioia early in the SUPRSNationals 50 at Oswego Speedway, grabbed the lead just past the half way point and went on to win by nearly 4 seconds over Rob Warren and Bob Gangwer.

Even though he won, Maxon, who picked up a ride in the Ed Riley owned U.S. Air Force sponsored machine, was quick to remind everyone that online racing is not as important as real life saying, “First and foremost, like I said last night, my heart’s heavy with the passing of Justin Lamb and we just need to keep all of this in perspective. We are all here to have fun, but the real world is what really matters.”

Maxon went on to explain how he made the pass on “The Dominator” Domenic Gioa. “It was a great race with Dom and to be honest I didn’t know if I had enough for him so I just kept following and waiting.”

Eventually Gioia would find the marbles and it was all the Maxon needed to grab the lead and go on to win by a large margin.

Rob Warren, who nearly won the 2013 SUPRS Modified 200 the night before but ran out of fuel, was happy to come home in second place. He said, “I had as much fun spectating watching Myles and Domenic battle for the win and had to remind myself to focus on my driving.”

“I made a couple of last minute changes and they weren’t the right ones as I had a bad push the whole night,” explained Warren. He then went on to say, “I was lucky when Myles got by Dom there, he kind of over drove it and scrubbed the back stretch wall and it was all I needed to get by, but by that time Myles was in another zip code and it was all I could to to hold of Bob.”

Bob Gangwer took the Wing Side Up, Jim Beam machine home to a podium at a track that he admittedly doesn’t do well at. “I was lucky again tonight at the start and really, as fast as we are here, if I hadn’t of made a couple of quick moves early before everyone got into their rhthym, I doubt that I’d be talking about a third because it’s just so tough to pass here.”

Gangwer would stay glued to Warren for most of the race as they battled for third then second. “I just wanna say congrats to Myles and Rob for great runs and really Domenic too. This was a blast tonight and there was a lot of great racing between me and Rob.”

Chris Meyers and Steve Callahan rounded out the top five finishers. The SUPRS racers now take the wing off and get ready for the 9th Annual Topless! 200 at Oswego Speedway on Wednesday night.
