North Carolina Swing is a Three Night Test of Endurance, Skill, and Luck

October 16, 2020 – Goshen, IN…The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 17th Annual North Carolina Swing hasn’t changed much since the first one and is still a test of endurance, skill and luck featuring five unique tracks in three nights of racing. Taking place this season from October 20-22, 2020, the overall schedule of challenging tracks remains unchanged. SUPRS racers will once again compete in their NASCAR Heat and rFactor sim racing supermodifieds and hope to have enough points after four qualifying races to make it to the fifth and final track on the swing to have a shot at the overall North Carolina Swing Championship.

Five Tracks and Tough Format

All of the races are in North Carolina. Four real tracks, and one fictional track make up the interesting mix of unique short-track venues. With the swing using both NASCAR Heat and rFactor, each track has its own nuances that each driver either finds to his liking, or struggles to figure out. In addition, the format of handicapping based on prior finishes, guarantees an exciting multi-race swing where every driver has to work hard at each track, each night, in order to keep his hopes alive for an overall North Carolina Swing Championship.

2020 NORTH CAROLINA SWING Format

NASCAR Heat and High Banks First

Like so many years in the past, the 2020 North Carolina Swing starts on Tuesday, October 20, at Dasera Speedway. The fictional track is a high-banked 3/8 mile bowl with wide corners but narrow straights. There will be plenty of action in the 40 lap feature as the drivers try to get the NC Swing off to a good start, but avoid the backstretch wall that comes up quick.

The second race of the night at the high-banked 3/8 mile Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC. The drivers suit up for another 40 lap feature at a place that hosted real supermodifieds for a couple of years and is a place that has very little in the way of straights and the drivers are constantly turning.

Both races on Tuesday are part of the SUPRS/HeatFinder.net Supermodified Challenge and will use the SUPRS W v6.0 mod for NASCAR Heat.

Onward with rFactor on Night Two

On Thursday, October 22, the series switches gears to the rFactor sim racing platform as it moves to Southern National Motorspots Park and Concord Motorsports Park.

Both tracks have hosted real supermodified racing and are very fast and have a lot of banking. Yet each is a unique track in it’s own right with varying degrees of banking, a backstretch wall at Southern National that likes to “swallow” race cars, and a very fast and tricky dogleg at Concord. Each race will have a 50 lap feature using the the SUPRS W v7.3 mod for rFactor.

Winner Takes All at The Hickory Hustle

The fifth and final race of the North Carolina Swing is the most important because it’s a winner takes all 75 lap feature at Hickory Motor Speedway. The driver that comes out on top becomes the 2020 NC Swing Champion.

After the first four races, the North Carolina Swing points, (which are a total of a drivers feature finish points), are added up and the top eight are invited to the Hickory Hustle to vie for the North Carolina Swing Championship.

Adding to the intense challenge of winning the NC Swing Championship is the fact that those eight drivers will draw for their starting place for a completely random feature event line-up.

About KTimmins77

Supermodified fan for over 30 years. Heard about this MOD and had to give it try! Been doing graphic art and design for along time. Owner of Breezegraphics Supermodified Art. Specializing in Vinyl Stickers and Window Clings. So designing my own paint scheme is right up my alley. :) Looking to enjoy some SUPRS racing and meet some new friends. Picked #77 in honor of "The King of Supermodifieds" Bentley Warren. I'll never forget that ragged old car (former swift 10pins) he used to muscle around The Steel Palace in the 70's.
