Ohh Now a Two Time Winner of The Whistler

August 9, 2022 – Oswego, NY…Using a hand controller, instead of his trusty Logitech Momo wheel and pedal set, Dave Ohh etched his name in the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), record books as a two time winner of “The Whistler” Pete Trenca Memorial Tuesday night at Oswego Speedway.

Bob Gangwer finished second after leading the first nine laps from the pole, and was left still looking for his first Trenca Memorial win. Zach Sears was on the podium in third place for the third race in a row after starting outside row one and ran one of his best, and cleanest NASCAR Heat races to date.

Heat race wins went to Bob Gangwer and Dave Ohh.

Happy for Heat and a Clean Night

Dave Ohh was happy to be back in his NASCAR Heat supermodified, a game and a car he always seems to excel at. “It felt good to run Heat again, I always like that,” he said. “Good race with Bob, ” he continued. “We had a battle there for a little bit then he bobbled off of one, lost a lot of exit speed off two and I was able to get the run on him. From there I messed up and tagged the wall and I think we got together a little bit.”

Ohh may have enjoyed running NASCAR Heat, but he was even more pleased that the night of racing at Oswego was a clean one.

“Pretty clean race from my side,” he noted.  “It was a pretty uneventful race for me and I think after the past couple races we’ve had here in these cars, it’s good to see…un-eventfulness.”

Win Puts an End to Keysor’s Season Championship Hopes

The Union, CT hot shoe came into the night just nine points ahead of defending SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Supermodified Champion, Brad Keysor, and leaves the track now 27 markers ahead going into the final race of the season next week. With the likelihood of Keysor not being able to compete at the 18th Annual Topless! 200 because of being on vacation, his hopes of defending his season championship is all but over, and there’s a chance he may slip to third if Ryan Cloonan has a good night at the Topless! 200.

There’s very little chance though that Cloonan could catch the points leader, and Ohh should easily secure his second SUPRS Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship.

While the top three and most likely down to fifth place in the standings is pretty well settled in, the rest of the top ten is anything but settled and after several drivers not attending The Whistler, and a couple others questionable for the Topless! 200, there’s still a good number of drivers fighting and clawing to improve, or at least not slip from the championship spot they’re in right now.

Topless! 200 Week Begins

The Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Topless! 200 is “The Original 200 Lap Supermodified Sim Race,” where some of the best supermodified sim racers in the country will compete at Oswego Speedway. This time honored tradition of closing out SUPRS summer season is a 200 lap race of speed, strategy, skill, and luck where a driver has to be fast, but also make his supermodified last without a pit stop.

Modeled after the famed “International Classic 200” at Oswego Speedway, the Topless! 200 is the culmination of on-track action from Sunday August 14 through Wednesday August 17, 2022 and the 18th Annual Topless! 200 is the third and final race of the 2022 Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top

To date, four drivers have won the Triple Crown which also includes the SUPRS All-Star 200, and the Summit Classic 125 for winged supermodifieds. Dave Ohh is hoping to put the final feather in his “perfect” Triple Crown cap by winning all three events in the same year.

Test-N-Tune Gets the Party Started

Everything kicks off August 8 with the SUPRS Sunday Night Test-N-Tune. The drivers will have a chance to put their wing and non-wing supermodifieds on the track to test their set ups while the SUPRS directors go through systems checks in preparation for Topless! 200 Week. Everything begins at 6pm eastern.

SUPRSNationals on Monday

On Monday, the racers strap the wing on their rFactor supermodifieds for the the SUPRSNationals Winged Supermodified 50, which is the last Empire State Super Series Regional Tour show of the season.

Pole Night,  Heat Races, Rising Star Tuesday

The non-wing supermodifieds take to the track on Tuesday, August 16 with Time Trials for the 18th Annual Topless! 200. While everyone will take shot at the pole position, only the top two qualifiers will be locked into the 2022 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship marquee event, and everyone else will head to the qualifying heat races and B-Main. Prior to time trials, the Rising Star, a special invitation only event for drivers that have never won a feature in a non-wing supermodified at Oswego Speedway will be run. The winner of this race gets the last guaranteed starting spot for the Topless! 200.

Time to Go Topless! on Wednesday

On Wednesday, August 17 the excitement of the season reaches it’s final crescendo with the running of the 18th Annual Topless! 200 at Oswego Speedway. Drivers will have to be fast, smooth and lucky to make it to the end of the 200 lap grind where pit stops are rare, and attrition high.
