Dave Ohh Played the Cards Right for Best Odds of Win at RT 93 Raceway on First Night of 2022 Keystone Nationals

March 1, 2022- Slusser, PA…Union, Connecticut’s Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh played his cards and the format right to start near the front of the pack and went on to lead 48 of the 50 feature laps at Route 93 Raceway to kick off the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), 17th Annual Keystone Nationals with a win.

Brad Keysor came home second a long ways back, while Gary Waldron fought for every bit of speed he could find to lay claim to a welcome podium finish.

Plays the Game Well

As a driver that excels at going fast in NASCAR Heat, some were shocked at dismal qualifying laps of 13.736 and 14.410, while others were certain that “SpeedyMan” had pulled a fast one to game the format and the rest of the field. His experiment paid off well with a pole position in his heat where all he had to do was cruise for the win and get his time back. After the feature inversion for all the drivers that finished in the top four of their heat race, Ohh’s qualifying lap put him inside of the second row.

Ohh wasn’t ashamed at taking advantage of a loophole in the rules saying, “Like I said last year, starting position is everything and the key is starting up front.”

“I kept the car clean,” he said. “These swings are always a challenge to figure out how to try to get as many points as possible.”

Once Ohh got out front with a clean car, he clicked off a race best lap of 13.282 and went on to lead 48 of the 50 laps and won by nearly nine and a half seconds over Brad Keysor. It was Ohh’s second career win at RT 93 and his fourth feature win in a row.

“Thanks 1st to Finish Race Servers, BreezeGraphics, Hairbag Studios, Icings on Top. and of course The Mod Squad and HeatFinder.net,” Ohh stated.

Waldron Surprised with Podium Finish

For SUPRS veteran Gary Waldron, a podium finish was like a win and he was surprised that his race ended up the way it did. Starting from the inside of the third row, the Michigan Hill Gang driver maximized every opportunity he could scrounge and managed to spend most of the race in third place. “This isn’t how I expected it to turn out,,” said the Kenowa Auto Supply sponsored driver. “I’m just happy to be in third. I thought that maybe I might have had something for Brad, (Keysor), but third, I’ll take it!” When asked who he wanted to thank for helping get him back to the podium after a long dry spell and plenty of bad luck he joked, “I have to look at my notes, this is unfamiliar territory for me.”

Gangwer Sets Fast Time

Prior to the feature. the drivers all time trialed and Bob Gangwer set fast time with a 13.378 second lap. Gangwer, who has a record four wins at RT 93, made it out of his heat, but with fast time was mired deep in the pack for the feature start. He was able to muster a fourth place finish after a tough battle with four-time Keystone Nationals champion Rob Warren. Warren, was second quick and the only other driver in the 13.3s. Like Gangwer he was stuck near the back of the 10 car starting field but fared much worse coming home a disappointing seventh.

The eight lap qualifying heats were both just a tick over 2 and a half minutes and were won won by Ryan Cloonan and Dave Ohh.

Keith Powell took a big hit in the championship points when his computer locked up prior to time trials. Powell was unable to find a solution to his technical gremlins and failed to make the call to the grid.
