Dave Ohh Wins Career First Randy Witkum Memorial 125, Seals Second Keystone Championship

March 4, 2021 – Jennerstown, PA… Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), hotshoe Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh of Union, CT, led all the laps and lapped the field on his way to winning his first Randy Witkum Memorial 125 Tuesday night at Jennerstown Speedway. The 125 lap race put a wrap on SUPRS 16th Annual Keystone Nationals Championship and after sweeping the week, Ohh also won that for the second year in a row.

Brad Keysor was second for the second night in a row and four-time Witkum winner Rob Warren came home in third after a torrid, race-long battle with rookie Ryan Cloonan.

Front Row Start Helps

Hear Dave Ohh’s interview after winning the 17th Annual Randy Witkum Memorial 125 at Jennerstown Speedway.

For the second time in three nights, Ohh started on the pole after being able to take advantage of the qualifying rules and, while the rest of the drivers, including former winners Keith Powell, Gary Waldron and Bob Gangwer, struggled to get keep their cars free of damage, walked away from the pack. Ohh knew what he had to do and said, “Started out the night good, and played through and got the front row.” After struggling to finish third last year after sustaining heavy front end damage early in the race while trying to work his way to the front while dodging lapped traffic, the TMS Wolfpack racer wasn’t about to take that chance again in such an important SUPRS race.

“Again, especially on a track like this where the cars top out on the straight, it, (starting up front), was key to getting out front and keeping the car clean.” explained Ohh. “The lapped traffic tonight seemed cleaner than RT 93, (the first Keystone Nationals race of the week), I’d say have about half the cars out there were aware, a few were not paying so much attention and I had some issues. But overall I think it was cleaner, it caused some frustration there between some people, but we’re always going to have in these longer races.”

When asked how winning the Witkum Memorial compared to his win in the Terry Gibson Memorial back in January, Ohh said both races were unique but one meant a little more. “Both tough races,” he admitted. “There are totally different aspects, different tracks, and this track definitely has more tire wear, and you had to know that you had to take car of them.”

“To get my first one, (Witkum Memorial), I can’t complain about that, and I’m glad to be able to add my name to list of driers that have won this show, so I’m going to say this one means more.”

Second Keystone Nationals Championship for Ohh

After winning the first two races, Dave Ohh, took a comfortable 30 point lead into the final event of the three race swing through PA over Rob Warren and rookie Ryan Cloonan, who were tied in second place. By the time that the checkered flag flew for the 125 lap Randy Witkum Memorial, Ohh had stretched that lead to 40 which was more than enough to claim his second Keystone Nationals Championship, joining Warren, Bob Gangwer and Myles Maxon as multi-time champions of the supermodified sim racing swing through the Keystone state.

“It’s great to be able to defend this title after such a close one last year were Rob and tied,” said Ohh. “I’m glad to be able to collect that bonus and be a Keystone National Champion for the second time.” Ohh expounded on how much he enjoys SUPRS regional tours, swings, and double-headers when he stated, “It’s just awesome to have these mid-season, mini championships. It’s a great way to keep the season interesting with some battles within the battle.”

“I just have to give a shout out to 1st to Finish Race Servers, they were great all night long, and all week long. There were no issues and it’s always nice when things go smooth with the technical side of things. Also BreezeGraphics.com and Hairbag Studios and Icings on Top. Well Attended Keystone Nationals

Rob Warren, Keith Powell, Carl Becker, Gary Waldron, Brad Keysor, Dave Ohh, Steven Vincent, Ryan Cloonan, Bobby Hayduk, Danny Ray, and Bob Gangwer had perfect attendance for the Keystone Nationals. 14 drivers total competed in at least one of the three races, and although the final race of the week had the lowest car count of the entire season so far, it one of the most attended Keystone Nationals in recent memory.

Warren Receives Guaranteed Starter Status

Because Dave Ohh, and second place finisher Brad Keysor had already procured a SUPRS Guaranteed Starter award for the 17th Annual Summit Classic 125, third place finisher Rob Warren received the special status.
