Oswego Speedway Open Practice Set for Saturday

“Home of the Supermodifieds” Roars to Life with First of Two Open Practice Dates

OSWEGO, NY (April 21, 2014) – The 2014 racing season marks the 64th consecutive season of racing operation at Oswego Speedway, but before the season officially goes green on May 3, the annual open test and tune practice session will take place this Saturday, April 26 from 1-5pm.

The open practice session is open to all divisions competing at Oswego Speedway during the 2014 racing season.

Admission to the open test session is free in the Speedway’s front grandstand, with pit passes available for $25.

Season pit passes will be accepted for this weekend’s practice, with the pit area opening at 11:30am for hauler parking.

A healthy field of both Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank SBS Series machines are expected to be on hand for testing.

In recent seasons, the Speedway test sessions have also been known to draw a number of Race of Champions (ROC) Modifieds, International Supermodified Association (ISMA) Supermodifieds, and ATQMRA TQ Midgets.

Currently there are 37 total Novelis Supermodifieds and 33 Pathfinder Bank SBS Series machines registered for the 2014 racing season.

A second open practice session will also be held Friday, May 2 on the eve of Gater Racing News opening night at the Speedway on May 3.

The May 2 practice will be open only to wing and non-wing Supermodifieds as well as Small Block Supers.  The test session will run from 6-10pm.

Pit passes for the Friday, May 2 session will also be $25, with season pit passes again accepted.  The pit area will open on that Friday at 4:30pm.

Racing action officially begin on Saturday, May 3 as a part of the 64th annual opening night special at the Speedway presented by Gater Racing News featuring the first round of the Shea Concrete ‘Steel Palace’ ISMA Super Series.

The Novelis Supermodified season takes the green flag on Saturday, May 10 with the 53rd annual Mitchell’s Speedway Press/Planet Fitness ‘Supermodified Kick-Off’ at the Speedway.

Racing on May 3 and May 10 will begin at 6:30pm, with kids 16 and under admitted free of charge as long as they attend with a paid adult.
