Dominating Performance in The Hickory Hustle Nets Powell First North Carolina Swing Championship
October 25, 2018 – Hickory, NC …Keith Powell turned in one of the most dominating performances ever witnessed in the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Hickory Hustle, by lapping the entire field on his way to claiming the 15th Annual North Carolina Swing Championship.

Hammer Down at The Hickory Hustle
Starting from outside row one after a random draw, Powell surprised the rest of the field when he took off at the drop of the green flag after getting a jump on Carl Becker and immediately began to pull away from the pack. Becker, the winner at Dasera Speedway on Tuesday, held the rest of the racers at bay, giving Powell an even bigger advantage with his far superior car. By lap 60 of the race, Powell had lapped the field.
Powell’s North Carolina Swing Championship was worth 15 SUPRS Gold Crest Wing Championship bonus points and propels him into the lead for the first time this season. Throughout the first four races of the Swing, Powell never finished lower than fourth, picked up the win at Caraway, and finished third twice.
Black Kat Klassic Next
After just a short turn-around from the North Carolina Swing, the Black Kat Klassic crosses the SUPRS racers paths on October 30, 2018. This race at Myrtle Beach Speedway has a full format of Time Trials, Crack the Whip, Heat Races and a 50 lap feature. Practice begins at 8:00pm with the first race set to start at 9:05pm.
