August 4, 2020 – Oswego, NY…Dave “SpeedyMan” Ohh has been unstoppable during the Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), summer season, but to win, ya gotta be there, and tonight, he wasn’t after a power outage put him out of commission. Brad Keysor was more than willing to step up and fill his shoes and took the win in “The Whistler” Pete Trenca Memorial. Keysor was just as fast, and dominated just as much as Ohh usually does and won by over 10 seconds in a race that was plagued by cautions. His win makes him a guaranteed starter for the season ending Topless! 200. Keysor also pads his championship tally by 25 points for claiming the SUPRS Bounty on Dave Ohh.
A surprise, but well desereved, second place finish by rookie Ryan Cloonan made a lot of people look twice as it was just his second SUPRS feature start. Third place went to 2-time Pete Trenca Memorial winner Keith Powell.
High Attrition, First Start for Vincent
The race began with 14 drivers taking the green flag, but before the checkered flag flew, nine cautions slowed the event and 29 laps were run under the yellow flag. The cause of at least a couple of those cautions were some pretty severe wrecks including a flip by early leader Gary Waldron and a crash by Bob Gangwer which resulted in his losing a wheel. In all, five of the 14 drivers that started the race failed to finish.
One driver that did finish was Steven Vincent of Cicero, NY. Steven was making his first ever SUPRS feature start, and with very little practice prior to the start of “The Whistler” Pete Trenca Memorial, Vincent showed great car control and track awareness. He was able to finish the race three laps down and in eighth.
Topless! 200 Week Begins
Test-N-Tune Gets the Party Started
Everything kicks off August 8 with the SUPRS Sunday Night Test-N-Tune. The drivers will have a chance to put their wing and non-wing supermodifieds on the track to test their set ups while the SUPRS directors go through systems checks in preparation for Topless! 200 Week. Everything begins at 6pm eastern.
SUPRSNationals on Monday
On Monday, the racers strap the wing on their NASCAR Heat supermodifieds for the the SUPRSNationals Winged Supermodified 50, which is the last Empire State Super Series Regional Tour show of the season.
Pole Night, Heat Races, Rising Star Tuesday
The non-wing supermodifieds take to the track on Tuesday August 11 with Time Trials for the 16th Annual Topless! 200. While everyone will take shot at the pole position, only the top two qualifiers will be locked into the 2020 Gold Crest Non-Wing Championship marquee event and everyone else will run heat races. Prior to time trials the Rising Star, a special invitation only event for drivers that have never won a feature in a non-wing supermodified at Oswego Speedway will be run. The winner of this race gets the last guaranteed starting spot for the Topless! 200.
Time to Go Topless! on Wednesday
On Wednesday, August 12 the excitement of the season reaches a fever pitch with the running of the 16th Annual Topless! 200 at Oswego Speedway. Modeled after the famed Oswego Speedway International Classic 200 for real supermodified racing, the SUPRS Topless! 200 is hard to win just like the Classic.
