April 27, 2022 – Madera, CA…Dave Ohh stayed true to his stated goal of getting out front early and leading all the laps to win his second Supermodified Ultimate Pavement Racing Series, (SUPRS), Summit Classic 125 Wednesday night at Madera Speedway. Ohh moved one step closer to another of his goals for 2022, claiming a perfect SUPRS Triple Crown of Supermodified Sim Racing presented by Icings on Top after also winning the All-Star Classic 200 earlier in the season. The Union, CT driver took the green flag from his third straight Summit Classic pole position and lapped every car.
“It’s definitely great being back in victory lane here, especially after last year with the connection loss,” said Ohh referring to leading 86 laps last year before his internet connection dropped him. “Not really the way I wanted to win it with that last big wreck taking out Brad unfortunately. A few close calls out there but that’s to be expected.”
“Shout out to all the SUPRS sponsors 1st to Finish Race Servers, Hairbag Studios, BreezeGraphics.com, and Icings on Top and obviously my own sponsors The Mod Squad, HeatFinder.net and a shout out to Brad on winning the championship.”
Major Crash Wipes Out Contenders
Ohh wasn’t completely alone at the top as defending winner Brad Keysor kept the driver of the TMS Wolfpack “Black Beauty” in site. Keysor was biding his time but failed to finish when he was caught up in the lone crash of the night. Then end came for Keysor on lap 122 when Zach Sears drove into the back end of Bob Gangwer in turn one as he was trying to lap the sixth place running driver. Gangwer spun and with nowhere to go, most of the top runners were caught up in the ensuing melee. Anthony Corsoniti, Gangwer and Brad Keysor were all missing wheels when the smoke settled, and the fourth place running Greg Breen was left without a nose wing. Somehow, and much to the chagrin of many of the drivers left on the track, Sears continued on to wind up on the podium at the end of the race.
May Break
The SUPRS racers will take a much-needed break for the month of May so that many of the members can enjoy the start of the real supermodified season, including the Oswego Speedway, and Star Speedway openers, and the Vukovich Classic at Madera Speedway. Many will take in, or even help on real supermodifieds when the 350 S.M.A.C. series starts their season at Evans Mills Raceway on Mother’s Day. Several others plan to make their way to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 106th Indianapolis 500 Mile Race, and to Anderson Speedway for the 75th Little 500.
SUPRS will fire up the 18th season of non-wing supermodified sim racing the first week of June with a much varied schedule from years past, but one that will still focus on Oswego Speedway using the SUPRS rFactor and NASCAR Heat modifications. Work is also planned on a brand new SUPRS Lee USA Speedway and SUPRS Orlando Speedworld.
